Title: Trusting God’s Plan for the New Year

Lesson:

Hey kids! Happy New Year! It’s exciting to think about all the fun things we’ll get to do and learn in the new year. But did you know that God has a special plan for each of us in the coming year? Let’s learn about trusting God’s plan for the new year.

First, we need to remember that God loves us so much. He created us and knows us better than anyone else. He has great plans for us and wants what’s best for us. So, as we start the new year, we can trust that God’s plan for us is good and full of love.

Sometimes, we might feel worried or scared about the new year. Maybe we’re nervous about making new friends or doing well in school. But we can trust that God is with us every step of the way. He promises to never leave us or forsake us, so we can have confidence in His plan for us.

God’s plan for us might not always look the way we expect it to. But we can trust that He knows what He’s doing. Even when things seem hard or confusing, we can lean on God and trust that He is in control.

As we start the new year, let’s remember to talk to God and ask Him to guide us along His plan for us. We can ask for wisdom, strength, and courage to follow His plan, no matter what it may be. And we can trust that He will always be there to help us.

So, as we enter the new year, let’s trust God’s plan for us. Let’s remember that He loves us, is with us, and knows what’s best for us. And let’s be excited to see what God has in store for us in the coming year!

Let’s pray: Dear God, thank you for the new year and for your love and care for us. Help us to trust your plan for us and to follow you every day. Amen.

Remember, God has amazing things in store for you this year. Trust Him and see what wonderful adventures He has planned for you! Happy New Year!

Object Lesson

Props needed: a jigsaw puzzle with a missing piece, a completed jigsaw puzzle, a blindfold.

Illustration:

Step 1: Begin by showing the young children the incomplete jigsaw puzzle and explain to them that it represents their lives at the beginning of a new year. There are many things they hope to accomplish and experience in the coming year, but there may be unknowns and missing pieces.

Step 2: Then, bring out the completed jigsaw puzzle and explain to the children that it represents God’s plan for their lives. Even though they may not see the full picture right now, God knows how all the pieces fit together perfectly.

Step 3: Next, ask for a volunteer to come forward and put on the blindfold. Have the volunteer try to complete the puzzle without being able to see it. This will demonstrate that trying to figure out God’s plan without trusting Him is like trying to complete a puzzle blindfolded – it’s difficult and often leads to mistakes.

Step 4: Finally, explain to the children that just as the volunteer needed to trust their sense of touch and the guidance of others to complete the puzzle, they too need to trust God’s plan for their lives in the coming year. Encourage them to have faith and confidence that God’s plan is good and perfect, even when they can’t see the entire picture.

Through this illustration, young children can gain a visual understanding of the importance of trusting God’s plan for the new year and the peace that comes from knowing that He is in control.

Craft Idea

Craft Idea: “Trusting God’s Plan” Jar

Objective: To help young evangelical Christian children understand the concept of trusting God’s plan for the new year through a fun and interactive craft activity.

Supplies:
– Mason jar or any clear jar
– Paper
– Pens or markers
– Stickers, glitter, or other decorative materials
– Ribbon or twine
– Scissors
– Glue

Instructions:
1. Begin by discussing the concept of trusting God’s plan for the new year with the children. Use examples and stories from the Bible to illustrate the importance of having faith in God’s plan for their lives.

2. Give each child a piece of paper and ask them to write or draw their hopes, dreams, and prayers for the new year. Encourage them to trust God with their plans and to seek His guidance.

3. Once they have written or drawn their thoughts, have the children cut out their written prayers and dreams.

4. Assist the children in decorating the mason jars with stickers, glitter, or any other decorative materials. They can also write “Trusting God’s Plan” on the jar using pens or markers.

5. After the jars are decorated, guide the children to roll up their written prayers and dreams and place them into the jar.

6. Finally, tie a ribbon or twine around the top of the jar as a finishing touch.

7. Encourage the children to keep their “Trusting God’s Plan” jars in a visible place in their homes as a reminder to trust in God’s plan for the new year.

This craft activity will not only serve as a fun and creative way for children to express their hopes and dreams for the new year, but it will also reinforce the lesson of trusting God’s plan in their lives.
