The Breastplate of Righteousness

Possible Viewpont: Evangelical Christian

Title: The Breastplate of Righteousness

Introduction:
Today, we’re going to learn about another important piece of armor that God gives us to protect ourselves – the Breastplate of Righteousness. Just like a brave knight wears a strong breastplate to protect his heart in battle, God gives us his righteousness to protect our hearts from evil.

Lesson:
God wants us to put on the Breastplate of Righteousness every day, just like a superhero putting on their costume. Righteousness means doing what is right and good in God’s eyes. When we choose to do the right thing, we are putting on our Breastplate of Righteousness and protecting our hearts from the bad things in the world.

But sometimes it’s hard to always do what’s right, isn’t it? It’s like when you’re playing a game and someone wants to cheat, or when you see someone being mean to a friend. In those moments, it can be tough to choose the right thing. But God’s righteousness gives us the strength to stand up for what’s good and true, and to make the right choices even when it’s hard.

Activity:
Let’s play a game to help us remember to put on the Breastplate of Righteousness! We’ll have two teams – one team will represent doing the right thing, and the other team will represent doing the wrong thing. I’ll give a scenario, and each team will have to come up with a solution. For example, if I say, “Your friend is being picked on at school, what would you do?” the team representing righteousness might say, “We would stand up for our friend and tell a teacher.” And the team representing the wrong thing might say, “We would join in and make fun of our friend.” We’ll see which team makes the most righteous choices!

Discussion:
Why is it important to always try to do what’s right in God’s eyes? How does putting on the Breastplate of Righteousness help us to stay protected from bad things?

Prayer:
Dear God, thank you for giving us your righteousness to protect our hearts from evil. Help us to always choose what is right and good in your eyes, and to be brave in standing up for what is true and just. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Conclusion:
Just like a strong breastplate protects a knight in battle, God’s righteousness protects us in our daily lives. Let’s remember to put on our Breastplate of Righteousness every day and make choices that honor God!
