How Evangelicals and Jehovah Witnesss view Jesus Being Eternal

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Evangelical View:
Evangelicals believe that Jesus has always existed as part of the eternal Godhead. They affirm that he is the Son of God, who has been in existence since the beginning of time. They view Jesus as fully God and fully man, with no beginning or end to his existence. Evangelicals emphasize the eternal nature of Jesus as a core belief of their faith, highlighting the divinity and pre-existence of Christ.

Jehovah’s Witness View:
Jehovah’s Witnesses, on the other hand, believe that Jesus was created by God and is not eternal in the same sense as the Father. They teach that Jesus was the first and greatest creation of Jehovah God, and that he was a spirit creature before coming to earth in the form of a man. According to their beliefs, Jesus did not exist before his creation, and he is not co-eternal with God. Jehovah’s Witnesses reject the idea of the Trinity and emphasize Jesus’ subordinate status to God the Father.

In conclusion, Evangelicals uphold the eternal nature of Jesus as a core tenet of their faith, while Jehovah’s Witnesses believe that Jesus was created by God and is not eternal in the same way. These differing views on the eternal nature of Jesus stem from contrasting interpretations of Scripture, highlighting the importance of theological understanding and interpretation in shaping beliefs about the nature of Christ.
