How Evangelicals and Agnostic / Seculars view Sexuality

Evangelical View on Sexuality
Evangelicals believe that sexuality is a gift from God and should be expressed within the confines of marriage between a man and a woman. They believe that sex is a sacred act that should be treated with reverence and respect. Evangelicals also emphasize the importance of purity and abstinence outside of marriage.

Agnostic / Secular View on Sexuality
Agnostics and secular individuals may hold a variety of views on sexuality, but generally do not adhere to religious principles in their beliefs. They may view sexuality as a natural and personal aspect of human experience, and believe that individuals are free to explore and express their sexuality in ways that are consensual and respectful.

Differences
1. Beliefs about Marriage: Evangelicals believe in the sanctity of marriage between a man and a woman, while agnostics and secular individuals may have more diverse views on what constitutes a meaningful and valid partnership.

2. Views on Purity and Abstinence: Evangelicals often emphasize the importance of sexual purity and abstinence outside of marriage, whereas agnostics and secular individuals may not hold the same emphasis on abstinence.

3. Religious Influence: Evangelical views on sexuality are heavily influenced by religious teachings and principles, while agnostics and secular individuals may not base their beliefs on religious doctrines.

It’s important to recognize and respect the diverse perspectives on sexuality, and to engage in open and compassionate conversations that promote understanding and acceptance. No matter our beliefs, we can strive to create a world where individuals are able to express their sexuality in ways that are healthy, consensual, and enriching.

Bible Verses About Sexuality

Evangelical:
– Genesis 2:24 – “That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh.”
– 1 Corinthians 6:18-20 – “Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body. Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.”
– Ephesians 5:31 – “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.”

Agnostic / Secular:
– 1 Corinthians 7:9 – “But if they cannot control themselves, they should marry, for it is better to marry than to burn with passion.”
– 1 Corinthians 6:12 – “I have the right to do anything,’ you say – but not everything is beneficial. ‘I have the right to do anything’ – but I will not be mastered by anything.”
– Proverbs 5:18-19 – “Let your fountain be blessed, and rejoice in the wife of your youth, a lovely deer, a graceful doe. Let her breasts fill you at all times with delight; be intoxicated always in her love.”
