Hello young warriors of Christ! Today, we are going to learn about how to use the powerful weapon that God has given us to defeat our enemy, the devil. This weapon is called the Sword of the Spirit.

In Ephesians 6:17, it says, “Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” The Sword of the Spirit is the word of God, which is the Bible. Just like a sword is used in battle to fight against enemies, the word of God is our weapon to fight against the devil.

When we read and memorize Bible verses, we are filling our hearts and minds with the truth and power of God’s word. This helps us to stand firm against the lies and temptations of the enemy. Just like a sword can protect us from harm, the word of God can protect us from the attacks of the devil.

So, when you are feeling scared, lonely, or tempted to do something wrong, remember to use the Sword of the Spirit. You can pray and ask God to give you the strength and courage to stand strong in your faith. You can also read the Bible and find verses that speak to your situation.

Let’s practice using the Sword of the Spirit together. Repeat after me: “I am a child of God, and with His word in my heart, I can defeat the enemy.” Great job, young warriors!

Remember, God has given us the Sword of the Spirit to help us in our daily battles against the enemy. By using the word of God, we can stand firm in our faith and defeat the devil’s schemes. Props needed:
1. A toy sword
2. A Bible
3. A picture of a child standing against a giant enemy

How to present the illustration:
1. Begin by showing the toy sword to the children and ask them what they think it is used for. Explain that just like a sword can be used to defend ourselves in a battle, the Bible is like a sword that we can use to fight against our enemies.
2. Show the children the Bible and read out Ephesians 6:17 which says, “Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” Explain that the word of God is like a sword that can protect us from evil and help us defeat the enemy.
3. Show the children a picture of a child standing against a giant enemy. Explain that just like David used a sling and a stone to defeat Goliath, we can use the word of God to defeat our enemy.
4. Encourage the children to memorize and meditate on scripture from the Bible, so that they can use it like a sword to fight against the enemy when they face challenges or temptations.
5. Invite the children to hold the toy sword and pretend to wield it like they are fighting against the enemy, while reciting a verse from the Bible.

Craft Idea

Craft: Sword of the Spirit Bookmark

Supplies:
– Cardstock paper or construction paper
– Scissors
– Markers or colored pencils
– Glue
– Stickers or embellishments (optional)

Instructions:
1. Begin by cutting a strip of cardstock paper or construction paper, about 2 inches wide and 6 inches long. This will be the base of your bookmark.
2. On one end of the strip, draw and cut out a simple sword shape. This will represent the “Sword of the Spirit” in our craft.
3. Next, decorate your sword bookmark with markers or colored pencils. You can add designs, patterns, or even write “Sword of the Spirit” on the handle of the sword.
4. If you have stickers or other embellishments, feel free to add them to your bookmark to make it more colorful and fun.
5. Once you are happy with the design of your bookmark, fold over the top of the strip to create a flap. Glue the flap down to secure it in place.
6. Your Sword of the Spirit bookmark is now complete! Use it to mark your place in your Bible or favorite Christian book, and remember the lesson on using the Sword of the Spirit to defeat the enemy.
