Possible Viewpont: Evangelical Christian

Title: The King is Coming: Preparing for Jesus’ 1000 Year Reign

Objective:
To help young children understand the significance of Sukkot and the promise of Jesus’ return to reign on Earth for 1,000 years.

Introduction:
Hello, everyone! Today, we are going to learn about a special celebration called Sukkot and how it connects to our faith in Jesus. We will talk about how God has wonderful plans for us, especially about the time when Jesus will come back and be our King!

What is Sukkot?
Sukkot is an exciting Jewish festival also known as the Feast of Tabernacles. It celebrates the time when God’s people lived in tents during their journey in the wilderness after being freed from Egypt. During this time, they thanked God for all that He had done for them. Just like they built tents to remember God’s care, we can remember how God takes care of us, too!

Why is Sukkot Important?
Sukkot teaches us many important lessons:

1. **God Provides**: Just like He provided food and shelter to the Israelites in the wilderness, He provides for us every day. We can trust that God will take care of us because He loves us.

2. **Thankfulness**: During Sukkot, families spend time together in their tents and thank God for the things He gives them. We should always be thankful for our blessings and share them with others.

3. **Joy and Celebration**: Sukkot is a time of joy! It’s a time to celebrate the harvest and enjoy being with loved ones. God wants us to be joyful and to celebrate life together as a family.

Connecting Sukkot to Jesus’ 1000 Year Reign:
Now let’s talk about the amazing promise we have from God—that Jesus will return one day and reign as King! This time is sometimes called the “Millennial Kingdom,” which is a fancy way of saying Jesus will rule for 1,000 years.

1. **King Jesus Will Be Here**: Just like the Israelites looked forward to reaching the Promised Land, we look forward to the day when Jesus comes back. He will make everything better and be the perfect King. We will live with Him, and there will be peace!

2. **Preparing Our Hearts**: Just like they got ready for Sukkot by building tents, we need to prepare our hearts for Jesus’ return. We can do this by:
– **Praying**: Talking to God and thanking Him for Jesus.
– **Loving Others**: Showing kindness and love to everyone around us.
– **Learning About Jesus**: Reading our Bibles and learning how to follow Him.

3. **Living With Joy**: Just as Sukkot is a time of joy, we can choose to live joyfully every day, knowing that Jesus is our Savior and King. We can share that joy with others to help them get ready too!

Conclusion:
Sukkot reminds us of God’s goodness and provision, and it points us to the wonderful promise of Jesus returning to reign for 1,000 years. Let’s remember to prepare our hearts, live joyfully, and share our love with others. The King is coming, and we can’t wait to celebrate together with Him!

Prayer:
Let’s end with a prayer.

“Dear God, thank You for loving us and for the promise of Jesus’ return. Help us to prepare our hearts and live joyfully as we wait for our King. We love You! In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

Activity:
To remember Sukkot and Jesus’ 1000 Year Reign, let’s make our own mini tents using paper and markers! You can draw things that remind you of God’s blessings in your life.

Object Lesson

Title: The King is Coming: Preparing for Jesus’ 1000 Year Reign

Objective: To teach young children about the significance of Sukkot and the concept of Jesus’ 1000-year reign through a fun and engaging illustration.

Props Needed:

1. A large, colorful poster or drawing of a crown representing Jesus as King.
2. A small table or flat surface to represent the “throne” or special place for the King.
3. Decorations for a Sukkah (a temporary dwelling or booth): green leaves, branches, and lightweight fabric (e.g., a tablecloth).
4. Toy food items (plastic fruit, bread, etc.) to simulate a festive meal.
5. A small sign that says “Welcome, King Jesus!” or a similar phrase.
6. A drum or tambourine for music and celebration.
7. Costumes or crowns (optional) for children to wear to depict royal subjects.
8. A small stuffed lamb or toy animal representing peace.

Presentation Steps:

1. **Introduction (5 minutes)**: Gather the children and sit in a circle. Show them the crown and explain that it represents Jesus as King. Introduce the concept that one day, Jesus will return and reign as King for 1000 years, and we want to prepare for His coming.

2. **Creating the Sukkah (10 minutes)**: Invite the children to help you construct a simple Sukkah using the branches and lightweight fabric. Explain that Sukkot is a time when people build temporary homes to remember God’s protection during the Israelites’ journey in the wilderness. As you build, engage them with questions about what it means to have a special place for a king.

3. **Celebrating Together (10 minutes)**: Once the Sukkah is built, arrange the toy food items inside it. Explain that when Jesus comes, there will be a great feast to celebrate His reign. Hand each child a toy food item and invite them to share what they would like to eat at the feast. This reinforces the idea of joy and community.

4. **Welcoming the King (5 minutes)**: Display the “Welcome, King Jesus!” sign at the front of the Sukkah. Let the children take turns knocking on an imaginary door to greet the “King” (you can play this role). When they enter, encourage them to use the drum or tambourine to make joyful sounds, simulating a celebration!

5. **Peaceful Kingdom (5 minutes)**: Show the children the stuffed lamb or toy animal. Explain that under Jesus’ reign, there will be peace and happiness. Talk about how the world will be a better place, filled with love. You can ask the children how they can help spread peace and joy in their lives.

6. **Recap and Discussion (5 minutes)**: Gather the children and sit again together. Ask them what they learned about Sukkot and the importance of preparing for Jesus, the King. Encourage them to share how they can show love to others and prepare their hearts for Jesus’ reign.

7. **Closing (5 minutes)**: Close with a short prayer thanking God for the future reign of Jesus and asking Him to help all of us to prepare our hearts for His coming. Make it interactive by inviting the children to say “Amen” or clap their hands at the end of your prayer.

This interactive presentation will teach young children the importance of preparing for Jesus’ 1000-year reign while connecting it to the traditions of Sukkot in a fun and memorable way.

Craft Idea

Craft Idea: “Sukkot Celebration Tent”

This craft will help children understand the importance of Sukkot and the concept of preparing for Jesus’ reign by creating their own mini Sukkot (Tabernacle) that represents a joyful atmosphere of waiting and celebration.

Supplies Needed:
1. Construction paper (various colors: green, brown, blue, etc.)
2. Scissors
3. Glue sticks or liquid glue
4. Markers or crayons
5. Twigs or small branches (optional, for a natural touch)
6. Stickers (stars, sun, or nature-themed)
7. Optional: Glitter or sequins for decoration

Instructions:
1. Begin by discussing briefly what Sukkot is and its significance in preparing for Jesus’ 1000-year reign. Explain that during Sukkot, people build temporary shelters to remember the time the Israelites spent in the wilderness.

2. Give each child a piece of construction paper that will serve as the base of their Sukkot. Encourage them to choose colors they like or that represent nature.

3. Using another piece of construction paper, have the children cut out a simple tent shape. A triangle or rectangle can work well.

4. Let the children decorate their tent shapes with markers or crayons. They can draw pictures inside the tent that represent the things they are grateful for or things they’ve learned about Jesus.

5. If available, have the children glue small twigs or branches around the top of their tents to give it an authentic Sukkot roof feel.

6. Allow the children to personalize their Sukkot further by adding stickers, glitter, or sequins.

7. Once finished, gather the children to share their creations. Encourage them to explain what they drew or added to their tent and discuss how they can prepare their hearts for Jesus’ coming reign.

8. As a closing activity, consider having a short prayer asking for God’s guidance as they prepare their hearts for Jesus’ return.

This craft not only reinforces the lesson but also gives children a tangible way to express their faith and excitement about Jesus’ reign.
