How Jehovah Witnesss and LDS / Mormons view Satan

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Jehovah Witness View on Satan
– Jehovah Witnesses believe that Satan is a powerful, intelligent, and invisible spirit creature who opposes God and is the enemy of all humans. They view Satan as the ruler of this world and the cause of all suffering and evil.

LDS/Mormon View on Satan
– Mormons believe that Satan was a spirit child of Heavenly Father who rebelled against God and was cast out of heaven, becoming the adversary of God and humanity. They teach that Satan seeks to lead people away from God and righteousness and is the source of temptation and evil in the world.

Both religious groups believe in the reality of Satan and his influence on human affairs, but they differ in their specific doctrinal interpretations of his nature and purpose.

Bible Verses About Satan

Jehovah’s Witness

– 1 Corinthians 10:20-21 “No, I imply that what pagans sacrifice they offer to demons and not to God. I do not want you to be participants with demons. You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons. You cannot partake of the table of the Lord and the table of demons.”

– 2 Corinthians 11:14 “And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.”

– 1 Peter 5:8 “Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.”

LDS / Mormon

– 2 Nephi 2:18 “And because he had fallen from heaven, and had become miserable forever, he sought also the misery of all mankind. Wherefore, he said unto Eve, yea, even that old serpent, who is the devil, who is the father of all lies, wherefore he said: Partake of the forbidden fruit, and ye shall not die, but ye shall be as God, knowing good and evil.”

– Moses 4:4 “And he became Satan, yea, even the devil, the father of all lies, to deceive and to blind men, and to lead them captive at his will, even as many as would not hearken unto my voice.”
