Evangelical View:
In the Evangelical perspective, the belief is that the Bible is complete and authoritative. Evangelicals view the Bible as the inspired Word of God, written by human authors under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. They believe that the Bible is without error and is sufficient for all matters of faith and practice.
For Evangelicals, the Bible is seen as the final authority in all matters of doctrine and belief. They trust in the Bible as the ultimate source of truth and guidance for living a life pleasing to God. Because of this belief in the completeness of the Bible, Evangelicals do not typically look to other sources for additional revelation or guidance.
Pentecostal View:
Pentecostals also believe in the authority of the Bible as the Word of God. However, there is a slight difference in the Pentecostal view on the completeness of the Bible. Pentecostals believe that the Bible is complete in terms of its message and overarching themes, but they also believe in the possibility of ongoing revelation and the manifestation of spiritual gifts.
Pentecostals believe in the continuing work of the Holy Spirit in the lives of believers today, including the operation of spiritual gifts such as prophecy, speaking in tongues, and healing. They see these gifts as ways in which God continues to speak and work in the world. While the Bible is seen as the primary source of authority, Pentecostals also believe in the importance of being open to the leading of the Holy Spirit in personal revelation and guidance.
Overall, both Evangelicals and Pentecostals share a belief in the authority and inspiration of the Bible. While Evangelicals tend to emphasize the completeness and sufficiency of the Bible as the sole source of revelation, Pentecostals also value the ongoing work of the Holy Spirit and the possibility of continued revelation in addition to the written word.
