How Evangelicals and Pentecostals view Halloween

Evangelical Perspective on Halloween:

Evangelical Christians generally hold a negative view of Halloween. This stems from the holiday’s pagan roots and association with witchcraft and the occult. Many Evangelicals view Halloween as a celebration of darkness, death, and evil, and believe that it is incompatible with their faith.

Some Evangelicals choose to abstain from any Halloween-related activities, while others may use the holiday as an opportunity to evangelize or promote alternative events that focus on positive themes.

Pentecostal Perspective on Halloween:

Pentecostal Christians also view Halloween as a holiday with pagan roots and a focus on the occult. However, there is more variation in how Pentecostals approach the holiday.

Some Pentecostals choose to avoid Halloween altogether, while others view it as an opportunity to minister to their communities. Some Pentecostal churches may offer alternative Halloween events that provide a safe and positive environment for children, such as fall festivals or harvest parties.

Regardless of their view on Halloween, Pentecostals emphasize the importance of spiritual discernment and avoiding anything that may compromise their faith or give the enemy a foothold in their lives. They encourage believers to focus on the power and victory of Jesus Christ in their lives, and to use every opportunity to share his love and message of salvation with others.

Bible Verses About Halloween

Evangelical:

Halloween

There is no specific mention of Halloween in the Bible, as it is a holiday that developed much later in history. However, some Christians have concerns about the holiday and its connections to the occult.

1 Thessalonians 5:22

“Abstain from all appearance of evil.”

This verse can be interpreted by some to mean that Christians should avoid participating in Halloween, as it is often associated with dark and spooky themes.

Ephesians 5:11

“And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.”

This verse can be seen as a warning against participating in Halloween activities that glorify evil or darkness.

Pentecostal:

Halloween

As with the Evangelical perspective, there is no direct mention of Halloween in the Bible. However, Pentecostals may view the holiday in a different light, based on their beliefs around spiritual warfare and authority.

Psalm 91:13

“Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.”

This verse can be interpreted to mean that Christians have authority over evil and can overcome any darkness associated with Halloween.

Colossians 2:15

“And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.”

This verse can be seen as a reminder that Jesus has already defeated the powers of darkness, so Christians do not need to fear or be influenced by them during Halloween.
