1. The Story of Jonathan and Honey (1 Samuel 14:24-45)
In this story, Jonathan, the son of King Saul, was leading a small group of men on a mission to attack the Philistine army. As they were fighting, they grew weary and hungry. Jonathan found some honey in the woods and ate it, which gave him renewed strength. However, Saul had declared a fast for that day and had forbidden anyone from eating. When Saul found out about the honey, he was angry with Jonathan and nearly had him put to death.
2. Samson and the Honeycomb (Judges 14:8-9)
Samson, a famous Bible hero known for his great strength, was on his way to marry a Philistine woman when he encountered a lion along the way. Samson killed the lion with his bare hands and later found that bees had made a hive inside the lion’s carcass. Samson took some of the honey from the hive and ate it, keeping it a secret from his parents and the Philistines.
3. God Promises a Land Flowing with Milk and Honey (Exodus 3:8, 13-17)
When God called Moses to lead the Israelites out of slavery in Egypt, He promised to bring them to a land flowing with milk and honey. This phrase became a symbol of God’s abundant blessings and provision for His people. The land of Canaan, which God later gave to the Israelites, is often described in the Bible as a land of milk and honey.
4. A Boy Finds Honey Among the Ruins (2 Kings 18:4-7)
During the reign of King Hezekiah, the Israelites were called to repentance and to turn back to God. Hezekiah led the charge by removing all the idols from the land and purifying the temple. As part of this renewal, a boy named Josiah went into the ruins of an old temple and found a jar of honey. He offered it to the priests as a sign of his willingness to serve God and to do what was right.
