20 Bible Verses on Faith in the CSB & NET Grouped

The Nature of Faith

Hebrews 11:1Now faith is the reality of what is hoped for, the proof of what is not seen.
Romans 10:17So faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes through the message about Christ.

Examples of Faith

Genesis 15:6Abram believed the Lord, and he credited it to him as righteousness.
Matthew 9:22Jesus turned and saw her. “Have courage, daughter,” he said. “Your faith has saved you.” And the woman was made well from that moment.
Acts 16:31They said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household.”

The Importance of Faith

Ephesians 2:8-9For you are saved by grace through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is God’s gift— not from works, so that no one can boast.
James 1:6But let him ask in faith without doubting. For the doubter is like the surging sea, driven and tossed by the wind.

Living by Faith

Galatians 2:20I have been crucified with Christ, and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
Colossians 2:6-7So then, just as you have received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to walk in him, being rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, and overflowing with gratitude.

The Nature of Faith

Hebrews 11:1Now faith is being sure of what we hope for, being convinced of what we do not see.
Romans 10:17Consequently faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes through the preached word of Christ.

Examples of Faith

Matthew 9:22But when Jesus turned and saw her he said, “Have courage, daughter! Your faith has made you well.” And the woman was healed from that hour.
Acts 16:31They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved, you and your household.”

The Importance of Faith

Ephesians 2:8-9For by grace you are saved through faith, and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God; it is not from works, so that no one can boast.
James 1:6But he must ask in faith without doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed around by the wind.

Living by Faith

Galatians 2:20I have been crucified with Christ, and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So the life I now live in the body, I live because of the faithfulness of the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
Colossians 2:6-7Therefore, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him and firm in your faith just as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.

A Story of Faith in the Old Testament

Daniel 3:16-18Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego replied to the king, “Nebuchadnezzar, we don’t need to give you an answer to this question. If the God we serve exists, then he can rescue us from the furnace of blazing fire, and he can rescue us from the power of you, the king. But even if he does not rescue us, we want you as king to know that we will not serve your gods or worship the gold statue you set up.”

A Story of Faith in the New Testament

Luke 7:1-10When he had concluded saying all this to the people who were listening, he entered Capernaum. A centurion’s servant, who was highly valued by him, was sick and about to die. When the centurion heard about Jesus, he sent some Jewish elders to him, requesting him to come and save the life of his servant. When they reached Jesus, they pleaded with him earnestly, saying, “He is worthy for you to grant this, because he loves our nation and has built us a synagogue.” Jesus went with them, and when he was not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to tell him, “Lord, don’t trouble yourself, since I am not worthy to have you come under my roof. That is why I didn’t even consider myself worthy to come to you. But say the word, and my servant will be healed. For I too am a man placed under authority, having soldiers under my command. I say to this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes; and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.” Jesus heard this and was amazed at him, and turning to the crowd following him, he said, “I tell you, I have not found so great a faith even in Israel.” When those who had been sent returned to the house, they found the servant in good health.
