Title: The Locusts and Their Leader

Bible Verse: “Saying to the sixth angel who had the trumpet, ‘Release the four angels who are bound at the great river Euphrates.’ And the four angels who had been kept ready for this very hour and day and month and year were released to kill a third of mankind.” – Revelations 9:14

Lesson:

Today, we are going to learn about a part of the Bible that is a little bit scary, but it has an important message for us.

In the book of Revelations, there is a part where it talks about locusts and their leader. The locusts are like tiny grasshoppers, but in this story, they are big and scary. They are like an army that brings trouble and darkness.

But the good news is that God is in control! He tells the angels to release the locusts at just the right time to show us that He is powerful and mighty. It also reminds us that we should trust in Him and not be afraid.

In our own lives, sometimes we might feel scared or worried about things that are happening around us. But just like in the story, we can trust in God to be our protector and to give us strength.

Let’s remember to pray to God when we are afraid or feeling troubled, and ask Him for His help and peace. And also remember that God is always with us, and we can trust Him to take care of us no matter what happens.

Prayer:

Dear God, thank you for being with us and protecting us. Help us to trust in you, especially when we are scared or worried. Give us your peace and strength to face whatever comes our way. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Object Lesson

Illustration: The Locusts and Their Leader

Props:
1. Plastic bugs or toy locusts
2. Small plastic crown or a crown made out of paper
3. A Bible (optional)

How to present the illustration:
1. Gather the children around a table or on the floor and show them the plastic bugs or toy locusts. Ask them if they know what these bugs are and if they have ever seen them before. Explain to them that these bugs are called locusts and they are known for coming in large swarms and causing destruction to crops.

2. Next, show the children the small plastic crown or the paper crown and explain that in the Bible, there is a verse that talks about locusts and their leader. The verse is called Revelations 9:14, and it says, “saying to the sixth angel who had the trumpet, ‘release the four angels who are bound at the great river Euphrates.’” This verse talks about a time when locusts will come in great numbers and be led by a powerful leader.

3. Now, place the crown on one of the locusts and explain to the children that just like the verse in the Bible, the locusts have a leader who guides them. This leader is powerful and leads the locusts to do what they do best – causing destruction.

4. Finally, you can choose to read the Bible verse to the children from the Bible or a printed page and talk to them about how just like the locusts, we should also have a good leader to guide us in making good choices and doing good things. This can be our parents, teachers, or even God. Remind the children that it is important to have a good leader to follow.

By using props and a simple explanation, children can better understand the concept of the locusts and their leader as mentioned in Revelations 9:14. This visual aid will help them grasp the message and the importance of having a good leader to guide them.
