Showing gratitude to God by taking care of our surroundings

Possible Viewpont: Evangelical Christian

Today’s lesson is all about showing gratitude to God by taking care of our surroundings. As Christians, we believe that God has given us the wonderful gift of our world and all the creatures that inhabit it. It’s important that we take care of this gift and show our gratitude by cleaning up after ourselves.

In order to keep our surroundings clean and tidy, we need to do our part. This means picking up after ourselves, throwing away trash in the proper place, and keeping our homes, schools, and churches clean.

Not only is it important to keep our surroundings clean for the sake of the environment and other people, but it is also a way for us to show our gratitude to God. By being responsible and taking care of our surroundings, we are honoring the gift that God has given us.

Let’s all take a moment to think about how we can contribute to keeping our surroundings clean. Maybe it’s picking up trash in the park, recycling at home, or simply making sure we put our own trash in the proper place. Whatever it is, let’s make an effort to show our gratitude to God by taking care of our surroundings.

Remember, as Christians, we have a responsibility to care for the world around us, and by doing so, we are showing our gratitude to God. Let’s all do our part and work together to keep our surroundings clean and beautiful.

Object Lesson

Props needed:
1. Two trash cans
2. Crumpled paper or candy wrappers
3. A broom and dustpan

How to present the illustration:
Begin by asking the children if they know what showing gratitude means. Explain that it means being thankful and showing appreciation. Then, ask if they have ever felt happy when someone shows gratitude towards them. Once they understand the concept of gratitude, introduce the idea that we can show gratitude towards God by taking care of our surroundings.

To illustrate this point, place one trash can in the middle of the room and the other trash can in a corner. Ask the children to throw their crumpled paper or candy wrappers into the trash can in the middle of the room. After a few minutes, the trash can will start to overflow, and the room will look messy.

Explain to the children that this is like how our surroundings can become dirty and messy if we don’t take care of them. Show them the broom and dustpan and ask them to help clean up the area by sweeping the paper and candy wrappers into the other trash can.

As they do this, explain that by cleaning up after ourselves, we are showing gratitude towards God for giving us a beautiful and clean environment to live in. We are also showing respect towards others who might use the same space after us.

By using this hands-on activity, children can see the importance of taking care of their surroundings and understand how it is an act of gratitude towards God. They can also feel proud of themselves for making a positive difference in their environment.

Craft Idea

Craft idea: DIY Recycled Organizer

Supplies:
– Empty cereal box
– Scissors
– Ruler
– Pencil
– Markers or stickers
– Glue stick

Instructions:

1. Cut off the top flaps of the cereal box and discard them. Cut off the front and back panels of the box and reserve them for later.
2. Using a ruler and pencil, measure and mark a line about 2 inches from the bottom of the box on both the left and right sides. Then measure and mark a second line about 3 inches above the first line.
3. Cut along the marked lines with scissors to create an angled shape that will serve as the organizer’s compartments.
4. Take one of the discarded side panels and measure and cut it into two pieces that will fit inside the organizer’s compartments, acting as dividers.
5. Decorate the outside of the organizer using markers or stickers. You can write a message about taking care of our surroundings or create a design that includes nature elements.
6. Glue the dividers into place by applying glue to each end and pressing them against the inside of the box.
7. Your recycling organizer is complete! Use it to keep your surroundings clean by organizing your pencils, pens, and other school supplies in a neat and tidy manner.

This craft will help encourage young children to show gratitude to God by taking care of their surroundings. By creating an organizer made from recycled materials, they will learn about the importance of reusing and reducing waste while keeping their surroundings clean and organized. They can also personalize the organizer with inspirational messages, creating an opportunity for conversation about how to show thanks to God through taking care of His creations.
