Title: Living Boldly for God, even in the Face of Fear

Objective: To encourage young children and teens to overcome their fears by trusting in God and living boldly for Him.

Introduction:

Everyone has fears, especially children and teenagers. It could be something as simple as being scared of the dark, or something more serious like facing a new challenge or difficult situation. Fear can paralyze us and prevent us from living our lives to the fullest. However, as Christians, we have a powerful tool to help us overcome our fears – our faith in God.

Bible Lesson:

1. God is with us always:

Even when we’re scared, God is always with us. He never leaves us or forsakes us, and He is always watching over us. Psalm 23:4 says, “Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me.” We can find comfort in knowing that God is with us, and He will help us overcome our fears.

2. Trust God:

God is trustworthy and He loves us more than anything. We can trust Him to take care of us and help us through difficult times. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”

3. Take Bold Steps:

Living boldly means stepping out of our comfort zones and taking risks. We can do this because we know that God is with us and we can trust Him. Deuteronomy 31:6 says, “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”

4. Pray:

We can pray to God when we’re scared, and He will give us courage and strength. Philippians 4:6-7 says, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Conclusion:

Living boldly for God means trusting Him and taking bold steps, even in the face of fear. We can do this because we know that God is with us and He will never leave us. When we pray to Him, He gives us the courage and strength we need to overcome our fears. Let us trust God and live boldly for Him.

Object Lesson

Props: Flashlight, Bible, Blanket

Presentation: Begin by explaining that sometimes we can feel scared or fearful, especially when it’s dark outside or when we’re facing new and uncertain situations. Ask for a volunteer to come up and hold a flashlight. Turn off the lights and ask the volunteer to shine the flashlight around the room. Explain that the light helps us see and feel less afraid, just like God’s word and presence can give us courage and comfort.

Next, add a Bible to the mix and open it up to Psalm 23. Read through the first few verses, highlighting how God is our shepherd who guides and protects us, even in the darkest and scariest of times. Encourage the children to hold onto this truth and remember that God is always with them, no matter what they may face.

Finally, offer a blanket to the volunteer with the flashlight and explain that sometimes when we feel scared, we want to hide or cover ourselves up for protection. However, as believers, we don’t need to be afraid to face the unknown or difficult times because we have God on our side. We can be brave and bold, knowing that God’s love and power is greater than any fear or darkness we may encounter.

Conclusion: Encourage the children to live boldly for God, even in the face of fear, by remembering to shine their light in the darkness, hold onto God’s promises, and trust in His protection and guidance.
