Possible Viewpont: Evangelical Christian

Title: God’s Love for You: John 3:16

Objective: To teach young children about the love of God and the message of salvation found in John 3:16.

Introduction:

Today, we are going to learn about a very important message that God wants us to know. It is all about His love for us and how we can have eternal life with Him. The message is found in John 3:16.

Lesson:

1. Start by reading John 3:16 to the children:
“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

2. Explain to the children that God loves us very much and wants us to be with Him forever. But because of sin, we cannot be with God in heaven.

3. Ask the children if they know what sin is. Explain that sin is when we do things that go against what God wants us to do, like being mean to others, telling lies, or disobeying our parents.

4. Remind the children that God loves us so much that He sent His only Son, Jesus, to die for us. Jesus took the punishment for our sins so that we could be forgiven.

5. Explain that when we believe in Jesus and ask Him to forgive our sins, we can have eternal life with God in heaven.

6. Encourage the children to ask questions and share any thoughts or feelings they have about God’s love and salvation.

Conclusion:

God’s love for us is an amazing gift. He sent His only Son to die for our sins so that we can have eternal life with Him. Remember that John 3:16 is a reminder of this great love. Let us pray and thank God for His love and for the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ.

Props required:

1. A large cut-out of a heart

2. A soft toy of a lamb

3. A small container of red paint

4. A brush

5. A large piece of paper

6. Printed words of John 3:16

Illustration:

Step 1: Begin by setting up the props on a table in front of the children, making sure that they are within easy reach.

Step 2: Take out the large cut-out of a heart and the small container of red paint. Use the brush to dip into the paint and then use it to paint the heart with red.

Step 3: Use the printed words of John 3:16 and read it out to the children. “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

Step 4: Explain to the children that the heart represents God’s love for us, and the red color represents the blood of Jesus that was shed for us.

Step 5: Use the soft toy of the lamb and tell the children that in those days, people sacrificed animals to ask for forgiveness of their sins. But Jesus, the Lamb of God, was sacrificed for all of our sins once and for all.

Step 6: Encourage the children to come forward and dip their fingers into the red paint and make a fingerprint on the large piece of paper.

Step 7: Tell the children that just like their fingerprint is unique, their relationship with God is unique too. They can come to Him and ask for forgiveness and receive eternal life like it says in John 3:16.

Conclusion:

The illustration teaches young children about God’s love for us, the sacrifice of Jesus and the power of belief in Him. The props make it an interactive and hands-on learning experience, which will stay with the children.

Craft Idea

Craft Idea: God’s Love Bracelet

Supplies:
– Pipe cleaners (1 per child)
– Assorted beads in various colors and sizes
– Scissors

Instructions:
1. Start by cutting the pipe cleaner in half so you have two pieces.
2. Thread the beads on to one of the pipe cleaner halves in any order you like.
3. Once all the beads are on the pipe cleaner, twist the two ends together to secure the beads in place.
4. Take the second pipe cleaner half and wrap it tightly around the beaded pipe cleaner, securing it in place.
5. Twist the ends of the second pipe cleaner together to create a loop.
6. Repeat this process with the remaining supplies until all children have their own God’s Love Bracelet.
7. As you make the bracelets, use this time to talk with the children about the Bible verse John 3:16 and explain that God’s love for them is so great that he sent his only son to die for their sins.

This craft provides a great opportunity to discuss the importance of accepting salvation and to tie in with the lesson on John 3:16. This also reinforces the message of God’s love for each child.
