Trusting Gods Plan for Healing

Title: Trusting God’s Plan for Healing

Introduction
As Evangelical Christians, we firmly believe that God is sovereign over every aspect of our lives, including our health. We also recognize that sickness and disease are a part of living in this fallen world. According to the Bible, God does heal people miraculously, but not everyone experiences miraculous healing. As we explore the topic of sickness, cancer, and healing, we will focus on trusting God’s plan for healing.

Body
1. Acknowledge the reality of sickness and disease: While we pray for healing and believe in God’s power to heal miraculously, we also acknowledge that not everyone experiences instant healing. Sickness and disease are a part of living in a fallen world. We need to be aware of our physical health and seek medical attention when necessary.

2. God can use sickness to bring glory to His name: When we face sickness, we need to trust that God is in control, and He is using the situation for our good and His glory. In John 9, Jesus healed a man born blind, not because of the man’s sin, but that God’s power might be displayed in him. We may not always understand why we face sickness, but we can trust that God knows what is best for us.

3. Trust God’s timing: It is essential to understand that God’s timing is perfect. We need to trust that God will bring healing in His timing, which may be different from ours. In 2 Corinthians 12, Paul prayed three times for healing from his thorn in the flesh but was told that God’s grace was sufficient for him. We need to trust that God’s grace will sustain us as we face sickness.

4. Pray with faith and trust in God’s will: We are called to pray with faith, believing that God can heal us. At the same time, we need to trust that God’s will is perfect, and He knows what is best for us. In Matthew 26:39, Jesus prayed, “Not as I will, but as you will.” We need to follow Jesus’ example and submit our requests to God, trusting that He knows what is best for us.

Conclusion
As Evangelical Christians, we believe that God is the ultimate healer. We also recognize that sickness and disease are a part of living in a fallen world. While we pray for healing, we also need to trust that God’s plan for our lives is perfect, and He knows what is best for us. Let us continue to trust God’s plan for healing and seek His guidance as we face sickness and disease.

Object Lesson

Needed Props:

– A puzzle with missing pieces
– A picture of a completed puzzle
– A Bible
– A small jar of honey
– Paper cups
– Medicine bottle

Illustration:

1. Begin by showing the audience a puzzle with missing pieces. Explain how much more difficult it is to complete a puzzle with missing pieces, just like how it is difficult to understand God’s plan for healing when we don’t have all the answers.

2. Then, show them a completed picture of the same puzzle. Explain that just like how each puzzle piece plays a vital role in completing the picture, every experience in our lives is an important piece that God is using to form us into the person He wants us to be.

3. Next, open up the Bible and read Jeremiah 29:11 – “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Explain that even though we may not understand why we go through sickness and suffering, God has a plan for our healing and it is filled with hope and a future.

4. Take out the small jar of honey and pour a little bit into a paper cup. Offer it to one of the audience members and comment on how sweet it is. Then, take out a medicine bottle and offer it to another member of the audience. Ask them if they would rather take the honey or the medicine to heal them if they were sick. Of course, they will choose the medicine.

5. Explain how just like how we trust medicine to heal our physical bodies, we must trust God’s plan for healing our emotional and spiritual bodies. It may not always be easy or what we want, but it is always for our benefit in the long run.

6. Finish by reminding the audience that just like how honey and medicine both have a role in the healing process, so do prayer and medicine. We can do our part by taking care of our physical bodies with medicine and also trusting in God’s plan for our emotional and spiritual healing.
