I am a collection of histories,
But not quite like the rest,
My tales are noble mysteries,
Some say they are the best.
My first section lists the tribes,
Their leaders and their lands,
The lineage of Israel’s scribes,
All named by God’s commands.
The second part recounts the tale,
Of David and his reign,
How his trust in God did never fail,
Though others sought his pain.
The final piece is genealogy,
A listing of those true,
Whose bloodline tracked to destiny,
To serve the King anew.
My pages number twenty-nine,
In KJV, that’s how it reads,
And if my riddles you can divine,
I am the book one calls “Chronicles, first indeed.”
