Let's Talk About Jumping Rope

Mark: Hey Esther, have you ever tried jumping rope?

Esther: Jumping rope? What exactly is that?

Mark: It’s a game where you have to jump over a rope that someone is swinging around, and see how long you can keep going without tripping.

Esther: Oh, that does sound like fun! I used to play something similar with my friends when we were young.

Mark: Exactly! It’s a great way to stay active and have fun at the same time. I’m actually writing about it for my latest book.

Esther: Writing a book about jumping rope? That’s interesting.

Mark: Yeah, I’m trying to show how even something as simple as a game can teach us some important life lessons. Like, how to keep going even when things get tough, and how to work together as a team.

Esther: I couldn’t agree more! As a queen, I believe in the power of teamwork and perseverance. That’s how we conquered so many enemies and built our great kingdom.

Mark: Yes, exactly! And jumping rope is a great way to learn those same principles. Plus, it’s just plain fun.

Esther: Agreed! I think the moral of the story is, even in simple things like games or activities, there can still be important lessons to be learned. And we can apply those lessons to our daily lives, our work, and our relationships.

Mark: That’s right. And as Christians, we are called to live our lives with joy, perseverance, and teamwork, always pushing ourselves to be better and do better. And jumping rope is just one fun way to practice those skills.

Jumping Rope Debate

Mark and debate Jumping Rope

Mark: Esther, have you ever tried jumping rope? It’s an incredible workout and so much fun too!

Esther: Hmm, I’ve never tried it, Mark. I have a kingdom to rule, after all. But I’m sure I could manage it.

Mark: I have to say, Esther, I’m a bit surprised you haven’t jumped rope before. It’s an excellent way to keep fit and healthy.

Esther: Oh, trust me, Mark. I ensure I get plenty of exercise running my kingdom. I don’t think I need to jump rope on top of that.

Mark: Sure, but jumping rope can help you release all that pent-up energy. It’s a great way to blow off some steam and get your heart pumping.

Esther: Well, I have to agree with you there, Mark. Running a kingdom means I have a lot of stress and anxiety to deal with. Maybe jumping rope could help me relieve that tension.

Mark: Exactly! And not to mention, it’s a fun way to get some fresh air and enjoy the outdoors.

Esther: I do love a good outdoor activity. But what kind of rope do you use? One of those flimsy little things?

Mark: No way, Esther! We’re talking about a proper jumping rope here. One that spins smoothly and doesn’t get all tangled up.

Esther: Oh, I see. Well, I’m willing to try it out. But I have to warn you, Mark, I have a bit of a competitive streak.

Mark: Bring it on, Esther! I’m always up for a friendly challenge.

Esther: Well, I must say, I’m pretty determined. As a Queen, I don’t give up that easily.

Mark: And as a writer, I have a very active imagination. So, I’m ready for anything.

Esther: Alright then, let’s do this! Jumping rope, here we come!

Mark: I’ll give you a head start, Esther. But don’t get too comfortable. I’ll be catching up in no time!

Jumping Rope - Game Time

Some Fun

Let’s choose ‘Twenty-Questions’:

Mark: Alright Esther, I have something in mind, do you want to play a game of Twenty-Questions?

Esther: Sure, I’m up for it. Is it a living thing?

Mark: Nope, it’s not a living thing. It’s an object.

Esther: Is it made of metal?

Mark: No, it’s not made of metal.

Esther: Is it something you use in daily life?

Mark: Yes, indeed. You can see it every day, and many people use it.

Esther: Is it something small?

Mark: Yes, it’s small enough to carry around and can easily fit in a bag.

Esther: Hmm, is it something that you can wear?

Mark: You can’t really wear it, but you can use it to enhance physical fitness.

Esther: Ah, got it! Is it a jumping rope?

Mark: You got it Esther, it is a jumping rope! Well done!

About Mark from the New Testament

Mark is one of the four Gospel writers who shared the good news of Jesus Christ with the world. According to some biblical scholars, Mark’s Gospel is the oldest and the shortest among the four gospels, but it is also the most action-packed and vivid in detail.

What is particularly striking about Mark is his humility and willingness to serve Christ. He was not one of the twelve apostles, and we do not know much about his background or how he became a disciple of Jesus. However, he was a close associate of Peter, and many scholars believe that he wrote his Gospel based on Peter’s eyewitness accounts.

Mark’s Gospel emphasizes the humanity of Jesus and his mission to serve and save humanity. He focuses on Jesus’ miracles, his preaching, and his teachings on love, forgiveness, and the kingdom of God. Mark was also present at some of the most important moments in Jesus’ life, including his baptism, his transfiguration, and his crucifixion.

One of the most famous passages in Mark’s Gospel is the Great Commission, where Jesus instructs his disciples to go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. This passage shows Mark’s dedication to spreading the message of Christ, and his belief that everyone deserves to hear the good news and be saved.

Overall, Mark’s life and ministry serve as an excellent example of what it means to be a servant of Christ. He reminds us of the importance of humility, selflessness, and a willingness to serve others in the name of Jesus. As we read his Gospel, we can be inspired to follow in his footsteps and continue to spread the message of Christ to all corners of the world.

Scripture Reference: “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.” – Mark 16:15

About Esther from the Old Testament

Esther was a Jewish queen of Persia during the reign of King Ahasuerus, also known as Xerxes I. She was a courageous and virtuous woman who risked her life to save her people from an evil plot. According to the Book of Esther in the Old Testament, God placed Esther in a strategic position to help her people, saying “Who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?” (Esther 4:14).

Esther maintained her faith in God throughout her trials and tribulations. She fasted and prayed before approaching the king to reveal the plot against the Jews, and her bravery and quick thinking ultimately saved her people. She is remembered as an example of faith, courage, and leadership.

As Christians, we can learn from Esther’s example of obedience and trust in God. She showed us that even in difficult and dangerous situations, we can rely on God’s strength and guidance. In the New Testament, the apostle Paul reminds us to “be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power” (Ephesians 6:10), just as Esther drew strength from God to fulfill her mission.
