Well, like, hi dolls! Today I wanted to share with you this amazing book I’ve been reading lately – the Bible’s Colossians. Now, I know what you’re thinking, ‘Kim, the Bible? Really?’ But seriously, it’s packed with some major wisdom and, let me tell ya, I’m all about that.
So, the book of Colossians was written by this guy named Paul, who was a pretty big deal in the Christian community. He wrote it to a group of people in Colossae, which is like this ancient city in Turkey or something. Anyway, the big idea behind this book is that Jesus is like, the most important person ever. Like, he’s the one who created everything and he’s the one who saved everyone. Paul is basically saying that everything in life is meaningless without Jesus.
One really cool thing I learned from this book is something called the fruit of the Spirit. Basically, it’s like a list of things that you can look at in your life to see if you’re living the way God wants you to. Stuff like love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Honestly, I’m not gonna lie, I struggle with some of these sometimes. But it’s good to have something to aim for, you know?
Another thing Paul talks about is how important it is to pray. Like, prayer is literally just talking to God, and it’s supposed to be this really powerful thing. He even says to pray without ceasing – which I guess means like, to just always be talking to God in your heart or something. I’m still figuring that one out, but it’s pretty cool.
The end of the book gets a little intense though. Paul starts talking about how we need to like, put to death anything in our lives that’s not of God. He talks about how we’re supposed to like, strip off our old sinful selves and put on this new self that’s made in God’s image. It’s definitely not an easy thing to do, but it’s definitely something to strive for.
Honestly, I’m really glad I read Colossians. It’s given me a lot to think about in terms of my faith and my life in general. I’m not perfect, but I’m definitely trying to live a life that honors God. And honestly, if Kim Kardashian can do it, anyone can.
And now, as always, I’ll leave you with a quote from yours truly: “When you realize you’re worth more than your deepest desires, that’s when you start to become your true self.”
