Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon with Josiah from the Bible

The popular game "Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon" explores the idea that everyone in Hollywood can be connected to Kevin Bacon in six steps or less. But what about connecting Kevin Bacon to Josiah, a king from the Bible? Let’s give it a try!

Step 1: Josiah to David

Josiah was a king of Judah who ruled from 640 to 609 BC. He was known for his religious reforms and devotion to God. Josiah was a descendant of King David, who was known for his military conquests and for being a man after God’s own heart.

Step 2: David to Bathsheba

David had many wives and concubines, but one of his most famous relationships was with Bathsheba. Bathsheba was the wife of Uriah the Hittite, but David lusted after her and arranged for Uriah to be killed in battle so he could have her for himself.

Step 3: Bathsheba to Nathan

Nathan was a prophet who confronted David about his sin with Bathsheba and Uriah. He told David a story about a rich man who took a poor man’s only lamb, which helped David see the error of his ways.

Step 4: Nathan to John the Baptist

John the Baptist was a prophet who prepared the way for Jesus Christ. He was known for his fiery preaching and for baptizing people in the Jordan River.

Step 5: John the Baptist to Herod Antipas

Herod Antipas was a ruler of Galilee during the time of Jesus. He was known for his cruelty and for imprisoning John the Baptist, whom he eventually had executed to please his stepdaughter.

Step 6: Herod Antipas to Kevin Bacon

Kevin Bacon played the role of Sebastian Shaw in the movie "X-Men: First Class." Sebastian Shaw was a mutant who worked with the CIA and who ultimately became an enemy of the X-Men. The movie was directed by Matthew Vaughn, who also directed "Kingsman: The Secret Service," which starred Samuel L. Jackson. Samuel L. Jackson appeared in the movie "Oldboy" with Josh Brolin, who appeared in the movie "Hollow Man" with Kevin Bacon.

Bible Verse

Now before him there was no king like him, who turned to the Lord with all his heart, with all his soul, and with all his might, according to all the Law of Moses; nor after him did any arise like him. – 2 Kings 23:25

Despite all of the wickedness and idolatry that had taken place in Judah before Josiah’s reign, he was able to turn the nation back to God through his leadership and devotion. Let us strive to be like Josiah and seek after God with all of our hearts, souls, and might.
