Resurrection Rocks – a Mark 16 Craft
Materials:
- Small rocks
- Acrylic paint or markers
- Paintbrushes or fine tip markers
- Newspaper or cardboard to protect work surface
- Bible or printed copies of Mark 16:1-8
Instructions:
- Begin by reading Mark 16:1-8 to the group, discussing the story of the women who went to Jesus’ tomb and found it empty.
- Distribute the rocks and paint/markers to the group.
- Encourage them to paint or write words related to the story on their rocks. Some ideas include:
- "He has risen"
- "Easter"
- "Resurrection"
- "Alleluia"
- "Empty Tomb"
- Allow the rocks to dry completely.
- Once dry, encourage the group to use their rocks as reminders of Jesus’ resurrection. They can place them in a garden, on a windowsill, or in a special spot in their home to remind them of the hope and joy of Easter.
Alternative Idea:
Instead of using rocks, you could use small terra cotta pots or mini canvases to create a Resurrection Garden. The group can paint or draw pictures of the empty tomb, flowers, and other symbols of new life on the pots or canvases. Then they can fill the pots with soil and plant grass seed, creating a mini garden to represent the resurrection.
