Fisherman’s Net – a John 21 Craft

Materials:

  • Brown paper bag
  • Scissors
  • Twine
  • Glue
  • Markers/crayons

Instructions:

  1. Cut the brown paper bag into a rectangular shape.
  2. Fold the paper in half lengthwise.
  3. Cut slits along the folded side, leaving about an inch uncut at the end.
  4. Unfold the paper and glue twine along the uncut edge.
  5. Fold the paper in half lengthwise again and glue the two sides together to form the net.
  6. Use markers or crayons to decorate the net.
  7. Optional: Add small fish cutouts to the net.

Explanation:

This craft is based on the story of John 21, where Jesus appears to his disciples after his resurrection and instructs them to cast their net on the right side of the boat. When they do, they catch a large number of fish. This craft is a representation of the fisherman’s net used in the story. It is a simple and fun way for children to learn about the Bible story and to create something they can take home and remember the story by.
