interview with the author of 2 Timothy 3:16-17

Interviewer: Good evening and welcome to tonight’s special edition of “Author Revealed.” Today, we have the honor of interviewing the renowned author of the Bible, who goes by the name of Paul. Thank you for joining us, Paul.

Paul: Thank you for having me. It’s a pleasure to be here.

Interviewer: Paul, one of the most famous passages from your writings is 2 Timothy 3:16-17. Could you please share those words with us?

Paul: Certainly, I would be happy to. “All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.”

Interviewer: Fascinating! Now, Paul, could you provide some context to these verses? What prompted you to write them?

Paul: Of course. At the time, I was writing a letter to my dear Timothy, who was a young pastor. I wanted him to understand the importance of Scripture in his ministry and in the lives of believers. False teachings and immorality were spreading, so I wanted to emphasize the role of Scripture in guiding and correcting our lives.

Interviewer: That sounds very relevant even to this day. Can you explain what you mean by “All Scripture is inspired by God”?

Paul: Absolutely. When I say “inspired by God,” I mean that the words of Scripture originate from God Himself. Through the work of the Holy Spirit, the authors of the different books of the Bible were inspired to write down God’s truth, His commands, and His promises. These writings hold divine authority and deserve our utmost respect.

Interviewer: That’s truly profound. Now, you mention that Scripture teaches us what is true and makes us realize what is wrong in our lives. Can you explain why this is important?

Paul: Certainly. As human beings, we are prone to wander from the path of righteousness. We can easily be deceived by false teachings or trapped by our own sinful nature. Scripture acts as a guide, shining a light on the truth and revealing the areas in our lives that need correction. Through its teachings, we are able to discern right from wrong, good from evil, and ultimately find a path toward God’s will.

Interviewer: Powerful words indeed. And you also mention that Scripture corrects and teaches us to do what is right. How does it accomplish this?

Paul: Scripture corrects us by showing us the errors in our ways and convicting our hearts. It is through these corrections that we can realign ourselves with God’s plan and adjust our behavior accordingly. Moreover, it teaches us what is right by providing clear instructions, moral teachings, and the example of Jesus Christ. When we immerse ourselves in Scripture, we gain a deeper knowledge of God’s character and understand how to live according to His will.

Interviewer: Such wisdom! Lastly, Paul, you say that God uses Scripture to prepare and equip His people to do every good work. Could you elaborate on this?

Paul: Certainly. God’s Word serves as a powerful tool for preparing and equipping believers to live out their faith and impact the world. Scripture provides the guidance, wisdom, and reassurance we need as we navigate through life. It equips us with the knowledge of God’s truth, so we can discern right from wrong and make decisions that align with His will. Furthermore, Scripture also reveals the good work that God has called us to do: loving and serving others, sharing the Gospel, and living in a way that brings glory to God.

Interviewer: Paul, thank you for sharing such profound insights into these verses. It has been a pleasure having this conversation with you.

Paul: Thank you once again for having me. It was my pleasure to discuss these important words from the Scriptures. May they continue to guide and inspire all who read them.
