Interviewer: Can you tell us about your writing in 1 Corinthians?

Author: Yes, of course. In 1 Corinthians, I address several issues that were causing division among the church in Corinth. One of the first things I address is the issue of unity among believers. In 1 Corinthians 1:10, I urge the Corinthians to “be of one mind, and to be united in thought and purpose.”

Interviewer: Why was this unity so important to you?

Author: Well, there were several factions within the church, each claiming allegiance to different leaders. Some were saying, “I follow Paul,” or “I follow Apollos,” or “I follow Peter.” This division based on human leaders was causing a lot of quarrels and strife within the church, which grieved me deeply.

Interviewer: So what was the solution?

Author: The solution was to prioritize our common faith in Christ above any allegiances to human leaders or personal preferences. I wanted to remind the Corinthians that Christ is not divided and that we are all baptized into one body through the Holy Spirit. Essentially, I was calling for a unified community of believers who centered their faith on Christ and shared a common purpose in spreading the Gospel of salvation.

Interviewer: That’s beautiful. Do you have any final thoughts on the message of 1 Corinthians?

Author: Yes, I would say that the message of 1 Corinthians is still relevant to us today. We live in a world that is increasingly divided and polarized, and we need to be reminded of the importance of unity in the church. We may have different ways of worshiping or different beliefs on certain matters, but our common faith in Christ should always be a unifying force. It is my prayer that those who read 1 Corinthians will be inspired to pursue unity and love within their own churches and communities.
