Sharing some Rest with Opal using the Bible.

Dear Opal,

Rest is a little miracle you can give yourself. The Bible reminds us that God notices when we’re tired and invites us to slow down. Jesus tells us to come to Him when we feel worn out (Matthew 11:28), and the Psalms paint pictures of green pastures and quiet waters where a tired heart can breathe (see Psalm 23).

Think of your name — like the opal stone that shines with many colors. Even when you’re still and quiet, all those colors are there. Rest doesn’t mean you stop being wonderful; it means you let the One who loves you hold and refresh you. Try this tonight: find a soft spot, take three slow breaths, whisper a short thank-you to God, and listen. Maybe read a short Psalm or a gentle promise from the Bible, then let your thoughts float like leaves on a calm pond.

God’s care is like a warm blanket and a steady light. Let go of the rush for a little while. Trust that you are safe, seen, and loved — that your rest matters. When you let yourself rest, you’re letting God do the strong stuff for you.

With peace and a quiet cheer for you,

From God’s Heart to Yours
Someone Who Cares

Opal

Open your heart to still waters; the Good Shepherd walks beside you.
Place your worries in His hands—He invites the weary to rest.
Anchor your trust in His steady love, and let peace fill your sleep.
Lean into His arms, Opal; be still and know you are beloved.

– Matthew 11:28-30 (KJV)
“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
Opal — When school or big feelings make you tired, Jesus invites you to bring them to Him. Let Him help you carry things so you don’t feel so heavy.

– Psalm 23:1-3 (KJV)
“The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul…”
Opal — Picture God guiding you to a calm place where you can breathe, relax, and feel cared for.

– Exodus 33:14 (KJV)
“And he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.”
Opal — You’re never alone. God’s presence is the kind of rest that helps even when things are hard or scary.

– Psalm 4:8 (KJV)
“I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.”
Opal — Trusting God can help you sleep without worry, knowing He watches over you.

– Psalm 127:2 (KJV)
“It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.”
Opal — God gives sleep as a gift. Trying to fix everything by yourself all the time can wear you out — rest is part of God’s care for you.

– Hebrews 4:9-10 (KJV)
“There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.”
Opal — Rest isn’t just about sleep; it’s also choosing to trust God’s work and stopping the nonstop worrying.

– Isaiah 40:31 (KJV)
“But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”
Opal — Waiting on God helps you get your strength back, so you can keep going without getting worn out.

– Philippians 4:6-7 (KJV)
“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
Opal — When you feel worried, try telling God about it in prayer and thank Him for the little things. His peace can help your heart rest.

Quick idea you can try: before bed, pick one verse from this list, say it out loud or quietly, and tell God one thing you want to leave with Him. It can help your mind and body relax.
