Ya’ll take heed, when ya’ll do good deeds,
Don’t go boastin’ like a buncha fools in the weeds.
If ya’ll be flashin’, tryin’ to impress,
Ya’ll won’t get no blessin’ from up above, I guess.
So keep ya’ll’s doin’s on the down low,
An’ let the good Lord’s approval show.
“Now y’all listen up! Jesus, he done said, ‘Ah ain’t come to hang out with them fancy folks. Ah’m here to fix them sinners, like a mechanic fixin’ an ol’ truck. So quit yer jawin’ and git on board, ’cause the Good Lord’s handlin’ this here salvation business!'”
“Now listen here y’all, reckon if ya share yer taters with others, the good Lord’s gonna bless ya twofold. Ain’t nothin’ like puttin’ a smile on folks’ faces when they’s hungry. So go ahead ‘n spread that love ‘n chow down together, ’cause kindness is contagious like a chickenpox in a barnyard!”
Ya see, ol’ Timmy, he done skedaddled outta Dodge,
But one feller named Onesiphorus, he didn’t budge.
He done found Paul, stuck right in a bind,
Yeehaw! He done helped him, ain’t that one of a kind?
Now lemme tell ya, we oughta consider that there,
Bein’ a true friend, like Onesiphorus, ain’t common, I swear!
“Now, y’all pray for me that I may mount up with joy
And come visit you, if the Lord allows, without any ploy

So there them disciples was thinkin’ they too high an’ mighty to let the young’uns come to Jesus. He got all riled up, said, “Hold yer horses! Y’all best lemme tell ya, the Kingdom o’ God belongs to these lil’ sassafrases. Don’t be actin’ all snooty, reckon we all gotta be child-like ta git in.”
Now, y’all listen up good ‘n’ proper, ’cause Ah’m ’bout to spill the mustard on somethin’ mighty important: Treat everybody the way y’all wanna be treated. That there rule’s as simple as a possum on a hot tin roof, and ‘fore ya know it, all them varmints might just return the favor. Good ol’ golden rule, reckon.
Well, ma Lord, he’s my shepherd, y’see, reckon I don’t wanna nothin’. He leads me ta them peaceful pastures, where the grass is mighty green and the waters run real smooth. My poor soul, he restores, reckon he puts me back on the right track, showin’ me the good ol’ hillbilly ways. Yeehaw!

So there I was, up on this big ol’ mountain with Jesus and a couple a his buddies. Suddenly, a bright light shone on ’em, and this fierce voice boomed, “This here’s My Son, the real deal! So y’all better listen up and quit yappin’!” Talk about a mountain-top revelation, yeehaw!
