1. Noah’s Ark – In Genesis 6-9, God commands Noah to build an ark to save his family along with pairs of animals to survive a great flood. This ark was essentially a huge, floating vehicle that carried all the living beings on board.
2. The Exodus – In the book of Exodus, the Israelites journeyed out of Egypt and into the desert. God provided them with a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night to guide them on their journey, which can be seen as a metaphorical vehicle carrying them to safety.
3. Elijah’s Chariot – In 2 Kings 2, Elijah was taken up to heaven in a whirlwind while his disciple Elisha watched. According to the text, a chariot of fire and horses of fire appeared and separated them, with Elijah being carried away in the vehicle.
4. The Transfiguration – In the New Testament, Jesus takes Peter, James, and John up a high mountain where he is transfigured before them. Moses and Elijah also appear to talk with Jesus, and the disciples see a bright cloud envelop them. While not a literal vehicle, the cloud can be seen as a metaphorical mode of transport between heaven and earth.
