However, in Proverbs 30:28, the writer uses the behavior of a spider as a metaphor for a person who goes into the king’s palace uninvited, saying “The spider taketh hold with her hands, and is in kings’ palaces.” Additionally, in Isaiah 59:5, the spider’s web is used as a metaphor for deceitful actions, saying “They hatch cockatrice’ eggs, and weave the spider’s web: he that eateth of their eggs dieth, and that which is crushed breaketh out into a viper.”
