The Bible does not specifically contain the word ‘Needy’, but there are several related terms that address the same concept. Here are some verses with those terms:
1. “He raises the poor from the dust And lifts the needy from the ash heap,” (Psalm 113:7 NASB)
2. “Blessed is he who considers the poor; The Lord will deliver him in time of trouble.” (Psalm 41:1 NASB)
3. “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and freedom to the prisoners;” (Isaiah 61:1 NASB)
4. “He who gives to the poor will not want, But he who turns his eyes away will receive many curses.” (Proverbs 28:27 NASB)
5. “He who oppresses the poor shows contempt for their Maker, but whoever is kind to the needy honors God.” (Proverbs 14:31 NIV)
These and other verses show that God cares for the poor and needy, and that we are called to care for them as well.
