  • Bible Stories about Giants:

    1. Goliath: Perhaps the most well-known story about giants in the Bible is that of David and Goliath. Goliath was a Philistine warrior who stood over nine feet tall and challenged the Israelite army to combat. David, a young shepherd boy, famously defeated Goliath with a single stone from his sling.

    2. Anakim: The Anakim were a race of giants that inhabited the land of Canaan. They were known for their great height and strength and were feared by many. Moses and the Israelites encountered the Anakim when they scouted out the land of Canaan prior to their conquest.

    3. Og: Og was the king of Bashan, one of the kingdoms conquered by the Israelites during their journey to the promised land. He was said to be over ten feet tall and had a bed made of iron that was 13 feet long. Despite his size, Og was defeated by the Israelites and his kingdom was added to their territory.

    4. Nephilim: The Nephilim were a group of beings mentioned in Genesis 6:4 who were said to be the offspring of human women and “the sons of God.” Their exact nature and characteristics are unclear, but they are often portrayed as giants or superhumans of some sort.

Bible Verses Containing the Word Giants:

    1. Genesis 6:4 – The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of men, and they bore children to them. Those were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown.
    2. Numbers 13:33 – There we saw the Nephilim (the sons of Anak, who come from the Nephilim), and we seemed to ourselves like grasshoppers, and so we seemed to them.”
    3. Deuteronomy 2:10-11 – (The Emim formerly lived there, a people great and many, and tall as the Anakim. Like the Anakim they are also counted as Rephaim, but the Moabites call them Emim.)
    4. Deuteronomy 3:11 – (For only Og the king of Bashan was left of the remnant of the Rephaim. Behold, his bed was a bed of iron. Is it not in Rabbah of the Ammonites? Nine cubits was its length, and four cubits its breadth, according to the common cubit.)
    5. 1 Chronicles 20:8 – These were descendants of the giants in Gath, and they fell by the hand of David and by the hand of his servants.
    6. Amos 2:9 – Yet it was I who destroyed the Amorite before them, whose height was like the height of the cedars and who was as strong as the oaks; I destroyed his fruit above and his roots beneath.
