1. The Miraculous Catch of Fish – In Luke 5:1-11, Jesus performs a miracle by causing a massive amount of fish to fill the nets of Simon, James, and John while they were fishing. It was at this miraculous catch that Jesus invited Simon and his companions to follow him and become fishers of men.
2. Jonah and the Big Fish – In the book of Jonah, God commanded Jonah to go to Nineveh and preach against it. But Jonah didn’t want to go, so he fled on a ship. As a result, God sent a big fish to swallow Jonah, where he spent three days and three nights before being spit out onto the shore. This story teaches the lesson that when God calls us to do something, we should obey him.
3. The Feeding of the 5,000 – In John 6:1-15, Jesus fed a crowd of 5,000 people with just five loaves of bread and two fish. He blessed the food and instructed his disciples to distribute it to the people, and everyone ate until they were satisfied. This miracle demonstrated Jesus’ power to provide for our needs.
4. The Coin in the Fish’s Mouth – In Matthew 17:24-27, Peter was asked to pay the temple tax, which he and Jesus didn’t have the money for. Jesus instructed Peter to go fishing and said the first fish he caught would have a coin in its mouth that would be enough to pay the tax. Peter did as he was told and caught a fish with a coin in its mouth, which he used to pay the tax. This story teaches the lesson that God can provide for our needs in unexpected ways.
