1. The Feeding of the Five Thousand (Matthew 14:13-21)
This story is about Jesus feeding a large crowd with just a few loaves of bread and fish. Jesus saw that the people were hungry and asked his disciples to find what food they could. They found only five loaves of bread and two fish. Jesus took the bread, blessed it, and broke it into pieces to feed the crowd. Everyone ate until they were full, and there were still leftovers.
2. The Lord’s Prayer (Matthew 6:9-13)
In this passage, Jesus teaches his disciples how to pray. In the prayer, he asks for daily bread. The request for daily bread speaks to our basic need for sustenance and reminds us that we depend on God for all things.
3. The Bread of Life (John 6:35)
Jesus refers to himself as the bread of life in John 6:35. He tells the people that whoever comes to him will never be hungry, and whoever believes in him will never be thirsty. By using this metaphor, Jesus illustrates that he is the only source of spiritual nourishment that truly satisfies.
4. The Last Supper (Luke 22:19)
During the last supper, Jesus took bread, gave thanks, and broke it, giving it to his disciples, saying, “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.” This event, known as the institution of the Eucharist, is celebrated by Christians around the world as a reminder of Jesus’ sacrifice for our sins.
