O God, why have You rejected us?
Why does Your anger burn against us?
Remember Your people, the ones You redeemed
The tribe of Your inheritance, whom You led out of slavery

Your foes have roared in the midst of Your sanctuary
They have set up their own standards for signs
They have hacked away with axes and hammers
And now all its carved work they smashed to the ground

They burned up Your dwelling place, the Holy Place
They defiled the dwelling place of Your name
They said in their hearts, “Let us destroy them altogether”
They have burned up all the meeting places of God

We do not see our signs, there is no longer any prophet

How long will the adversary reproach?
