The Promised Comforter – a John 14 Story

Once upon a time, there was a man named John who was going through a difficult time in his life. He had lost his job, his marriage was falling apart, and he felt lost and alone. One day, he stumbled upon a Bible and started reading the Gospel of John. As he read through the 14th chapter, he came across the promise of the Comforter.

John had never heard of the Comforter before, but he was intrigued by the idea of someone who would come and bring him peace. As he continued to read, he learned that the Comforter was the Holy Spirit, sent by Jesus to be his helper and guide.

John was skeptical at first, but he decided to pray and ask God for the Comforter to come into his life. And to his surprise, he felt a sense of peace and comfort that he had never experienced before. He knew that the Comforter was with him.

As he continued to read and study the Bible, John realized that the Comforter was not just a feeling, but a person who was always with him. He learned that the Holy Spirit was there to guide him, teach him, and comfort him in all circumstances.

In the weeks and months that followed, John’s life began to change. He found a new job, and his relationship with his wife started to improve. He felt a sense of peace and joy that he had never known before, and he knew that it was all because of the Comforter.

One day, John shared his story with a friend who was going through a difficult time of his own. He told him about the promise of the Comforter in John 14 and encouraged him to pray and ask God for the same sense of peace and comfort that he had found.

Through John’s testimony, his friend was also able to experience the power of the Comforter. And together, they continued to learn and grow in their faith, guided by the Holy Spirit.

In conclusion, John 14:26 says, "But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you." This verse speaks to the promise of the Holy Spirit, who is there to guide us, teach us, and bring us comfort in all circumstances. Just like John, we too can experience the power of the Comforter in our lives by asking God to fill us with the Holy Spirit.
