The Power of Love and Truth – a 2 John Story
Samantha had been invited to a friend’s wedding in a nearby city. She decided to stay in a hotel for the night to avoid driving home late. As she was getting ready for bed, she noticed a man sitting on a bench outside her hotel room. She couldn’t see his face because it was dark, but she felt uneasy.
The man introduced himself as John and asked if he could talk to her for a few minutes. Samantha was hesitant but decided to listen to him. John told her that he was a Christian and that he wanted to share with her a message of love and truth.
For the next hour, John talked to Samantha about the importance of love and truth in the Christian life. He explained that love and truth were inseparable and that without one, the other couldn’t exist. He told her that God was the embodiment of both love and truth, and that as Christians, they were called to follow His example.
Samantha was deeply moved by John’s words. She had never heard anyone speak with such passion and conviction. She realized that she had been living a life without purpose and that she needed to make some changes.
The next morning, Samantha woke up with a renewed sense of purpose. She checked out of the hotel and drove home, feeling more at peace than she had in a long time. She knew that she had been touched by something powerful and that her life would never be the same.
Over the next few weeks, Samantha began attending a local church and reading the Bible. She discovered the truth of God’s love and grace and was amazed at how it transformed her life. She became more patient, kind, and loving towards others, and she knew that it was all because of the power of love and truth.
The message of 2 John had come alive to Samantha in a very real way. She had experienced the truth of verse 6, which says, "And this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love." She knew that walking in love and truth was the only way to truly experience the fullness of God’s love and grace.
Samantha was forever grateful to John for sharing the message of love and truth with her. She knew that his words had changed her life and that she would never forget the power of love and truth.
