Hebrews 2: Human Redemption – a Modern Story
John had always been a good man. He was kind to his neighbors, devoted to his family, and worked hard to provide for them. But one day, John found himself in a deep hole of debt. He tried everything he could to get out of it, but nothing seemed to work. He was desperate and didn’t know what to do.
One day, while walking down the street, John met a man named Jesus. Jesus spoke to him about the love and mercy of God and how he had come to redeem humanity from their sins. John was intrigued and listened intently to Jesus’ words. He felt a glimmer of hope in his heart.
After that encounter, John started attending a local church and learning more about Jesus. He realized that he had been living his life without God and that he needed to turn his life around. John repented of his sins and accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior. He felt a newfound peace and joy that he had never experienced before.
As John grew in his faith, he began to see changes in his life. His relationships with his family and neighbors improved, and he was able to work harder and more effectively than ever before. He knew that it was all thanks to the redeeming power of Jesus Christ.
However, John still had his debt to deal with. He had tried everything to fix it, but nothing seemed to work. One day, John was praying and he felt a strong urge to reach out to his church community for help. He was hesitant at first, but eventually, he mustered the courage to ask for assistance.
To his amazement, the people at his church rallied around him and raised the funds needed to pay off his debt. John was overwhelmed with gratitude and knew that it was only possible because of the love of God and the power of redemption.
In Hebrews 2:14-15, it says, "Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might break the power of him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil— and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death." John knew that he had been freed from the bondage of his debt and the fear that had held him captive. He knew that it was all thanks to Jesus, who had shared in his humanity and brought redemption to his life.
John’s story is just one example of the power of redemption that is available to all of us through Jesus Christ. No matter how hopeless our situation may seem, we can always turn to God and trust in his plan for our lives. With faith and perseverance, we can overcome any obstacle and experience the transforming power of God’s love.
