From Weakness to Strength – a 2 Corinthians 12 Story
Emily was a successful businesswoman who had it all – a beautiful house, a loving husband, and two adorable children. She was always on the go, managing her business, her family, and her social life. However, despite her achievements, Emily felt like something was missing. She was constantly anxious and overwhelmed, and her health began to suffer. She found herself struggling with chronic pain and exhaustion, and no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t seem to shake it off.
One day, Emily met a wise old woman who told her about a powerful spiritual practice that could help her find peace and healing. The practice involved surrendering her weaknesses to God and trusting in His strength to sustain her. At first, Emily was skeptical – she had always been taught to rely on her own abilities and never show weakness. But something about the old woman’s words resonated with her, and she decided to give it a try.
Emily started to spend time every day in prayer and reflection, asking God to help her let go of her need for control and perfection. She began to focus on her strengths instead of her weaknesses, trusting that God could use even her weaknesses for good. And slowly but surely, she began to feel a sense of peace and strength that she had never experienced before.
As Emily continued to practice this newfound faith, she began to see changes in her life that she never could have imagined. Her business started to flourish in ways she never thought possible, and she found herself connecting with her family and friends on a deeper level. Her health improved, and she felt more energized and alive than she had in years.
Despite these amazing transformations, Emily still struggled with moments of weakness and doubt. But she knew that, through it all, God was with her, strengthening her and holding her up. And she began to understand the words of the Apostle Paul in 2 Corinthians 12:9-10, where he writes:
"But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong."
Emily realized that her weaknesses were not something to be ashamed of or hidden away. Instead, they were an opportunity for God’s power to shine through her and bring healing and hope to those around her. And so she continued to surrender her weaknesses to God, trusting that in her weakness, He would make her strong.
