Blind No More – A Journey of Faith and Healing: A John 9 Story
The sun was shining brightly, and the birds were chirping on the day that changed everything for Jacob. He had been blind since birth, but he had learned to navigate the world around him with the help of his parents and friends. However, on this particular day, everything changed. Jacob was sitting by the roadside begging for alms when he heard a commotion. He asked a passerby what was going on, and they told him that a man named Jesus was passing by.
Jacob had heard about Jesus before. He had heard that he was a healer and that he had performed miracles. So, when he heard that Jesus was passing by, he called out to him, "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!" The people around him tried to silence him, but he persisted. And then, to his amazement, Jesus stopped and approached him.
Jesus asked him, "What do you want me to do for you?" Jacob replied, "Lord, I want to see." Jesus then did something that no one had ever done before. He spat on the ground, made some mud with the saliva, and spread the mud on Jacob’s eyes. Then he told him to go and wash in the Pool of Siloam.
Jacob did as he was told, and when he washed the mud from his eyes, he was amazed to find that he could see. For the first time in his life, he could see the world around him. He saw the trees, the sky, and the faces of the people who had gathered around him. He was overjoyed, and he knew that his life would never be the same.
The people who had known Jacob as a blind beggar were amazed. They couldn’t believe that he could now see. Some of them said that it must be a trick, while others marveled at the miracle that had taken place. When they asked him how he had been healed, Jacob told them about Jesus and what he had done.
The Pharisees were skeptical of Jacob’s story. They didn’t believe that Jesus could have healed him, and they accused him of being a sinner. They even went so far as to call Jesus a sinner and said that he couldn’t be from God. But Jacob knew the truth. He knew that he had been blind, but now he could see, and he knew that Jesus had done it.
In the end, Jacob’s faith in Jesus was unwavering. He continued to tell everyone he met about the miracle that had happened to him. And while he faced opposition and skepticism, he knew deep down that Jesus was the Son of God, and that he had been healed by his touch.
