Git ‘er Done: Haggai’s Call to Rebuild Yer ‘ol Shack

Howdy y’all! Today, we’re gonna dive into the book of Haggai and see what this ol’ hillbilly prophet has to say ’bout rebuilding our homes. Now, I reckon some of y’all might be thinkin’, "Why would I wanna listen to some ancient book ’bout buildin’ stuff?" Well, let me tell ya, Haggai’s got some real wisdom to share ’bout trustin’ God and takin’ action. So grab yerself some sweet tea and let’s git ‘er done!

Haggai: A Hillbilly’s Call to Action

Now, Haggai ain’t mincin’ words in this here book. He’s comin’ straight at ya with a call to action: "Consider your ways!" (Haggai 1:5). He’s tellin’ the people of Judah that they been sittin’ on their hands while their house of worship is still in ruins. And let me tell ya, Haggai’s call ain’t just for them ol’ Jews. It’s for us too. We all got areas in our lives that need fixin’, and Haggai’s tellin’ us to stop procrastinatin’ and start doin’ somethin’ ’bout it!

Reckon Y’all Need a New Digs?

Haggai ain’t just talkin’ ’bout the temple, neither. He’s askin’ the people if they’re happy livin’ in their shacks while God’s house is still a mess. He’s sayin’, "Is it time for you yourselves to be livin’ in paneled houses, while this house lies in ruins?" (Haggai 1:4). Now, I ain’t sayin’ we all gotta go out and build mansions, but Haggai’s got a point. We shouldn’t be sittin’ around in our comfortable lives while there’s work to be done for God’s kingdom.

Time to Git ‘er Done: Rebuild Begins

So what’s the solution? Haggai tells the people to "Go up to the hills and bring wood and build the house, that I may take pleasure in it and be glorified" (Haggai 1:8). Git ‘er done! Stop makin’ excuses and start takin’ action. And let me tell ya, the people listened. They started rebuildin’ the temple, and they did it with gusto. They didn’t let setbacks or opposition stop ’em. They kept workin’ ’til the job was done.

Blessings Come to the Obedient

And ya know what? They were blessed for it. Haggai tells ’em, "I am with you, declares the Lord" (Haggai 1:13). When we obey God and do the work he’s called us to do, he’s with us too. He blesses us in ways we can’t even imagine. Maybe it’s not just financial blessings, neither. Maybe it’s peace, or joy, or a sense of purpose. Whatever it is, God’s gonna bless us when we’re obedient.

Don’t Cry Over Spilt Milk: Keep Going

Now, I ain’t gonna lie to ya. Rebuildin’ ain’t always easy. There’s gonna be setbacks and disappointments. But Haggai’s got some encouragement for us: "Take courage, all you people of the land, declares the Lord. Work, for I am with you, declares the Lord of hosts" (Haggai 2:4). Don’t cry over spilt milk, y’all. Keep goin’! God’s with us, and he’s gonna help us through the tough times.

The Promised Glory of the New Place

And let me tell ya, there’s a reward at the end of all this work. Haggai describes the glory of the new temple, sayin’, "The latter glory of this house shall be greater than the former, says the Lord of hosts" (Haggai 2:9). God’s gonna bless us with somethin’ greater than what we had before. Maybe it’s not gonna be a literal temple for us, but it might be a new job, or a restored relationship, or a deeper walk with God. Whatever it is, it’s gonna be glorious.

From Rags to Riches: God’s Plan for You

And ya know what else? God’s got a plan for us. Haggai says, "I will take you, O Zerubbabel my servant, the son of Shealtiel, declares the Lord, and make you like a signet ring, for I have chosen you, declares the Lord of hosts" (Haggai 2:23). God’s gonna take us from rags to riches, y’all. He’s gonna make us somethin’ special. We just gotta trust him and keep workin’ hard.

Trusting God to Provide All You Need

Now, I know some of y’all might be thinkin’, "But how am I gonna do all this work? I ain’t got the resources or the strength!" Well, Haggai’s got somethin’ to say ’bout that too. He reminds us that when we’re obedient, God’s gonna provide all we need: "From this day on I will bless you" (Haggai 2:19). We don’t gotta worry ’bout where the resources are gonna come from. God’s gonna provide ’em.

Blessed Beyond Measure: God’s Promise

And ya know what else? When we’re obedient, God’s gonna bless us beyond measure. Haggai says, "The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, declares the Lord of hosts" (Haggai 2:8). God’s got all the resources he needs to bless us. We just gotta trust him and do the work he’s called us to do.

A Final Word on Faith and Obedience

So there ya have it, y’all. Haggai’s call to action is a call to faith and obedience. We gotta trust God to provide for us, and we gotta be obedient to his call. It ain’t gonna be easy, but it’s gonna be worth it. So let’s git ‘er done and rebuild our lives for God’s glory!

Well, I hope y’all enjoyed this little tour through Haggai. It just goes to show that even an ol’ hillbilly prophet from thousands of years ago can still teach us a thing or two ’bout livin’ for God. So let’s take Haggai’s call to action to heart and start rebuildin’ our lives, one step at a time. Git ‘er done, y’all!
