The Book of Revelation: A Brief Summary
The final book of the Bible, Revelation, is a prophetic book filled with symbolism and apocalyptic imagery. Written by the apostle John, it reveals the end times and the ultimate triumph of God over evil.
Reading Revelation in 60 Seconds or Less
Chapter 1: Jesus appears to John with a message for the seven churches. "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last." (1:11)
Chapters 2-3: Jesus addresses the churches, commending or rebuking them for their faithfulness. "To the one who is victorious, I will give the right to eat from the tree of life." (2:7)
Chapters 4-5: John sees a vision of God’s throne and the Lamb who is worthy to open the scroll. "Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!" (5:12)
Chapters 6-16: The seven seals, seven trumpets, and seven bowls are opened, revealing judgments on the earth. "They called to the mountains and the rocks, ‘Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who sits on the throne.’" (6:16)
Chapters 17-19: The judgment of Babylon and the marriage supper of the Lamb. "Hallelujah! For our Lord God Almighty reigns." (19:6)
Chapters 20-22: Satan is bound, the dead are judged, and a new heaven and earth are created. "Behold, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to each person according to what they have done." (22:12)
