Title: Peace in the Storm: How to Find Calm in a Stressful World

Introduction:
Hello everyone! Today we are going to talk about how to fight depression and stress in our daily lives. I’m sure you all have experienced times in your life when things seem overwhelming and stressful. But we are reminded in the Bible that God is our strong tower, a shelter in our storm, and with Him, we can find peace in the midst of chaos.

Body:
1. Understanding the problem: It is essential to understand what depression and stress are and how they affect our body, mind, and spirit. Explain to the children what depression and stress are and give examples of different situations that can trigger these emotions.

2. Prayer and Meditation: Encourage the children to spend time in prayer and meditation, where they can talk to God, share their struggles and anxieties, and ask for strength and wisdom. Teach them how to pray for others and how to pray for themselves.

3. Bible Reading: Reading the Bible is one of the best ways to find peace in the storm. Share with the children some Bible verses that will help them find hope, joy, and peace amidst their struggles. Teach them how to memorize Bible verses and how to apply them to their daily life.

4. Maintain Healthy Habits: Eating a balanced diet, exercising, and getting enough sleep are all essential elements to maintain a healthy mind and body. Encourage the children to take care of themselves and to develop healthy coping mechanisms.

5. Reach out for Help: Sometimes we need to reach out to others for help. Encourage the children to talk to their parents, teachers, or friends if they are feeling overwhelmed or anxious. Remind them that they are not alone and that people care for them.

Conclusion:
In conclusion, God is our source of peace and comfort during times of stress and depression. We can find peace in prayer and meditation, reading the Bible, maintaining healthy habits, and seeking help from others. Remember, God is always with us, and we can find peace in His love and grace.

Object Lesson

Props:
– A clear glass bowl filled with water
– A bottle of dish soap
– A small toy boat
– A small spray bottle filled with water
– Blue food coloring
– A small fan

How to Present:
1. Begin by introducing the topic of stress and depression, explaining that these are things that everyone experiences at some point in their lives, including young children and teens.
2. Dip the toy boat into the bowl of water, and ask the audience what they observe. Some may notice that the boat floats easily, while others may notice the calmness of the water.
3. Add a drop or two of blue food coloring to the water, and begin to swirl the water around using the toy boat. Ask the audience what they observe now. They may notice that the water becomes murky and the boat may begin to struggle to stay afloat.
4. Add a small squirt of dish soap to the bowl, and continue to swirl the water around. Ask the audience what they observe now. They may notice that the dish soap causes the water to foam up and become even more turbulent.
5. Finally, spray a small mist of water onto the surface of the water using the spray bottle. Ask the audience what they observe now. They may notice that the water becomes calmer once again.
6. Introduce the idea that our minds can be like the water in the bowl, and that when we experience stress or depression, it can feel like there is a storm raging inside of us.
7. Explain that there are things we can do to find peace in the storm, just like how the mist of water helped soothe the turbulent water in the bowl. These can include things like talking to a trusted friend or adult, practicing deep breathing, or engaging in activities that bring us joy.
8. Turn on the small fan and hold it over the surface of the water. Ask the audience what they observe. They may notice that the fan creates ripples on the surface of the water, but the water beneath remains calm. Explain that there may still be turmoil happening around us, but that we can choose to find inner peace and calm despite what is happening around us.
9. Wrap up the illustration by encouraging the audience to take small steps each day to find peace in their own lives, and reminding them that it’s okay to ask for help when they need it.
