As a Jehovah’s Witness, we believe that Satan is a real and powerful spirit creature who rebelled against God. His original name was Lucifer, which means “shining one” or “light-bearer.” He was one of the highest-ranking angels in heaven, but he became proud and desired to be worshipped like God. He convinced a third of the angels to rebel with him, and they were cast out of heaven down to the earth.
Satan is often referred to as the “god of this world” and is seen as the source of evil and temptation. He is described in the Bible as a “roaring lion” seeking to devour God’s people. He is also known as the “father of the lie” and is the mastermind behind the deception that led Adam and Eve to sin in the Garden of Eden.
Despite his power and influence, Satan is not equal to God and he will ultimately be defeated. The Bible teaches that he will be thrown into the lake of fire and brimstone, where he will be tormented day and night forever and ever. As Jehovah’s Witnesses, we believe that it is important to resist Satan’s temptations and remain faithful to God, who is the true source of light and life.
