As an evangelical Christian, Jesus is the Son of God, the promised Messiah, and the Savior of the world. The Bible teaches that Jesus is not only a historical figure but also the very Son of God who came to earth to save humanity from sin and death. He is the second person of the Trinity, fully God and fully man, who lived a sinless life and died on the cross as a sacrifice for our sins. Through his death and resurrection, he offers salvation to all who believe in him.
The book of John states that “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God” (John 1:1). This passage speaks to the deity of Jesus, who is identified as the Word, and his eternal existence with God. Jesus’ divinity is further affirmed in Colossians 1:15-20, which describes him as the “image of the invisible God” and the one through whom all things were created.
At the same time, Jesus was also fully human. He was born of a virgin as prophesied in Isaiah 7:14 and fulfilled in Matthew 1:22-23. He experienced hunger, thirst, fatigue, and other human limitations, yet never sinned. Hebrews 4:15 says, “For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin.”
The purpose of Jesus’ life on earth was to provide a way for humanity to be reconciled to God. Romans 5:8 states, “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Through his death and resurrection, Jesus has made it possible for us to receive forgiveness of sins and eternal life. John 3:16 explains it best, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
Finally, as believers in Jesus, we are called to follow him and share the good news of his salvation with others. Jesus himself said, “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit” (Matthew 28:19). Our hope is in Jesus, who has overcome sin and death, and we look forward to his return when he will establish his kingdom and make all things new.
In summary, Jesus is the Son of God who came to earth to save humanity from sin and death. He is fully God and fully man, born of a virgin, and lived a sinless life. Through his death and resurrection, he offers salvation to all who believe in him. As believers, we are called to follow him and share the good news of his salvation with others.
