The Big Bang theory is a widely accepted scientific explanation of the origins of the universe. It states that the universe began as an extremely hot, dense, and small singularity, which then expanded rapidly, creating the universe we see today. However, from an evangelical Christian standpoint, the Big Bang theory conflicts with the biblical account of creation.

The Bible tells us that God created the universe, as seen in Genesis 1:1, "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth." The Bible also tells us that God created everything in six days, as seen in Exodus 20:11, "For in six days, the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day."

From this biblical perspective, the Big Bang theory seems to contradict the idea that God created the universe in six days. However, there are different interpretations of the biblical account of creation. Some Christians believe in a literal six-day creation period, while others interpret the six days as symbolic or metaphorical.

Regardless of the interpretation, the Bible emphasizes that God is the creator of the universe. Psalm 19:1 says, "The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands." The beauty and complexity of the universe point to a creator who is powerful, intelligent, and purposeful.

Moreover, the Bible tells us that God sustains the universe. Hebrews 1:3 says, "The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word." This means that God not only created the universe but also continues to uphold it by his power and wisdom.

In conclusion, the Big Bang theory is a scientific explanation of the origins of the universe, but it conflicts with the biblical account of creation. From an evangelical Christian standpoint, the Bible teaches that God created the universe and sustains it by his power. The beauty and complexity of the universe point to a creator who is intelligent, purposeful, and worthy of our worship.
