Question: What is reality? (Evangelical Christian)

As an evangelical Christian, I believe that reality is not just what is physically visible or perceptible, but also what is unseen and spiritual. The Bible teaches that God created the world and all that is in it (Genesis 1:1), and that He is the ultimate source of truth and reality (John 14:6). Therefore, to understand reality, we must look to God and His word.

One aspect of reality that is often overlooked is the existence of spiritual beings such as angels and demons. These beings are not visible to the human eye, but they are a very real part of the spiritual realm (Ephesians 6:12). We must acknowledge their existence and understand that they can have a significant impact on our lives and the world around us.

Another important aspect of reality is the human experience. God created humans in His own image (Genesis 1:27) and gave us the ability to think, feel, and make choices. However, our experience is marred by sin, which has separated us from God (Romans 3:23). We must acknowledge this reality and seek to reconcile ourselves to God through faith in Jesus Christ (John 3:16).

Reality also includes the existence of a spiritual realm beyond this physical world. The Bible teaches that there is a heaven and a hell, and that our eternal destiny depends on our relationship with God through faith in Jesus Christ (John 14:2-3, Revelation 20:15). We must acknowledge the reality of our eternal destiny and seek to live our lives in a way that honors God and reflects our faith in Him.

Ultimately, reality is grounded in God and His word. As Christians, we must seek to understand and live according to His truth, recognizing that this world is not our final home and that our ultimate hope is in Him (Colossians 3:1-4). We must strive to live in a way that reflects the reality of God’s love and grace to those around us, sharing the hope that we have in Christ (1 Peter 3:15).
