Evolution is a widely debated topic in both scientific and religious circles. From an evangelical Christian standpoint, evolution refers to the gradual changes in biological organisms over time, which supposedly occurred as a result of natural selection, genetic mutations, and environmental factors. However, this belief is not consistent with the biblical creation account, which states that God created all living things in their current form, according to their kinds.

The Bible teaches that God created the heavens and the earth, and all living things, including humans, were created in His image (Genesis 1:1-31). It further states that God created the first man and woman, Adam and Eve, and gave them dominion over all living things (Genesis 1:26-28). This account of creation is not consistent with the theory of evolution, which teaches that humans evolved from apes over millions of years.

The concept of evolution also contradicts the Bible’s teaching on sin and redemption. According to the Bible, sin entered the world through Adam and Eve’s disobedience, and all humans are born with a sinful nature (Romans 5:12-21). The only way to be reconciled to God is through faith in Jesus Christ, who died for our sins and rose again (John 3:16; Ephesians 2:8-9).

Furthermore, the theory of evolution has been used to promote atheism and secular humanism, which are contrary to biblical values. The Bible teaches that God is the creator and sustainer of all things, and that humans are accountable to Him for their actions (Romans 14:12). The theory of evolution removes God from the equation and promotes a worldview that is centered on human achievements rather than divine sovereignty.

In conclusion, evolution is not consistent with the biblical creation account, which teaches that God created all living things in their current form. The concept of evolution also contradicts the Bible’s teaching on sin and redemption, and has been used to promote atheism and secular humanism. As evangelical Christians, we must hold fast to the truth of God’s Word and reject any teachings that undermine His sovereignty and authority.
