There are a few different perspectives on what the Bible says about having a lot of kids. On one hand, there are several passages in the Old Testament that speak positively about having a large family. In Genesis 1:28, God blesses Adam and Eve and tells them to “be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth.” Later in the Old Testament, we see examples of people who had many children, such as Jacob (who had 12 sons) and King David (who had many sons and daughters).
However, it’s important to note that the Bible also speaks about the challenges of having a large family. In Psalm 127:3-5, for example, the psalmist writes that “children are a heritage from the Lord…like arrows in the hand of a warrior, so are the children of one’s youth. Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them.” While this passage seems to speak positively about having many children, it also acknowledges that raising children can be challenging and requires a great deal of effort and energy.
Ultimately, the Bible does not provide a clear answer to the question of whether or not it is good to have a lot of kids. Instead, it encourages us to seek God’s guidance and wisdom in all areas of our lives, including our decisions about family size. As Christians, we believe that God has a unique plan for each of our lives, and that includes our families. Some people may feel called to have many children, while others may feel called to have fewer children or no children at all. Ultimately, our goal should be to honor God in all of our decisions, including those related to family.
