a Matthew 4:1-3 poem

In Matthew chapter four,
We learn of temptations galore.
Jesus fasted for forty days,
And Satan came in many ways.

He said, “If you’re the Son of God,
Command these stones to become food.”
But Jesus knew his Father’s will,
And said, “Man shall not live on bread alone, still.”

So let’s take a lesson from this tale,
Whenever we’re faced with a threatening gale.
Hold fast to what’s right and true,
And rise above the tempter’s view.

a Matthew 4:1-3 limerick

There once was a verse in the Bible,
In Matthew, it caused quite a trifle,
Jesus tempted by the devil,
For forty days, on a level,
What did he eat? Only the Bible!

a Matthew 4:1-3 rap

Verse 1:
Yo, listen up, it’s time to get real
I’m talking ’bout a story that you gotta feel
It’s from the good book, yeah, you know the deal
Matthew 4:1-3, it’s a big reveal

Jesus was led by the Spirit to the desert land
He fasted for forty days, didn’t touch a strand
Then the devil came, looking to expand
Saying “If you’re the Son of God, turn these stones to bread, man”

Chorus:
But Jesus said, “Man cannot live on bread alone
But on every word that proceeds from the Father’s throne”
He had the strength to resist and not be overthrown
Because he knew the truth that his Father had shown

Verse 2:
Next, the devil took Jesus to the holy city
And said “Jump off the temple, it would be pretty
Your angels will save you, it’ll be a pity
If you don’t, you won’t be known as the almighty”

But Jesus saw through the devil’s lies
He said “You shall not put the Lord your God to the test, don’t even try”
The devil couldn’t believe his own eyes
As he saw his plan to trick the Son of God fly

Chorus:
But Jesus said, “Man cannot live on bread alone
But on every word that proceeds from the Father’s throne”
He had the strength to resist and not be overthrown
Because he knew the truth that his Father had shown

Verse 3:
The devil wasn’t done, he had one last attempt
He showed Jesus all the kingdoms, an empire dream he had sent
Said “All this power, you can have it all, my friend
Just bow down and worship me, let our kingdoms blend”

But Jesus wasn’t swayed by Satan’s game
He rebuked him and said “Get away, it’s in God’s name”
For worshiping anyone else would bring Him shame
And Jesus showed the devil that he won, true to his claim

Chorus:
But Jesus said, “Man cannot live on bread alone
But on every word that proceeds from the Father’s throne”
He had the strength to resist and not be overthrown
Because he knew the truth that his Father had shown

Outro:
So there you have it, a tale that’s real
Mathew 4:1-3, it’s not just a spiel
When faced with temptations, we can make the devil kneel
If we have God’s word and the strength to feel.
