The evening came, the supper set
Jesus spoke, “one will betray”
They each asked, “surely not I?”
Judas left as night turned day
Taking bread, He blessed and broke
“This is my body, given for you”
Passing wine, He spoke again
“My blood, shed for the good and true”
They sang and prayed, then headed out
To the Mount of Olives, to pray
Jesus knew what was to come
Yet still He went, to show the way
In Matthew 26:17-30,
Jesus hosted a last supper, you know.
He said, “One of you will betray,”
And poor Judas couldn’t stay
Without making his exit to go.
Verse 1:
Now listen up, I’ve got a story to tell
About a man named Jesus and his last meal in a shell
He gathered the twelve, said it was time to eat
Told them that something big was coming, a feat
So they went to a room, they got settled in
And Jesus said, “One of you will betray me, a sin”

Verse 2:
They started to eat, Jesus broke the bread
Said, “This is my body, for you it is shed”
Then he took a cup, and he blessed the wine
Said, “Drink of it, for it is a sign”
Of his blood that would soon be spilled
For the forgiveness of sins, this was part of the deal

Verse 3:
As they ate and drank, Jesus said it again
“One of you will betray me, a friend”
They all wondered who it could be
Judas said, “Is it me?”
Jesus just nodded, it was a hard thing to do
But it was his Father’s will, he had to see it through

Verse 4:
They finished the meal, then they went out
To the Mount of Olives, this was what Jesus was about
He prayed to his Father, then he was arrested
Taken away, he was soon to be tested
But he went willingly, for he knew
That his sacrifice would save me and you

Of Jesus and his friends, and the Holy Grail
Of his body and blood, shed for you and me
Through his sacrifice, we are set free.
