On Passover eve, we begin
To commemorate the Exodus win
With unleavened bread, we celebrate
And remember the day of our escape
For seven days, we’ll keep this feast
As a reminder of God’s love and peace
Exodus 12:18, the verse we know
To mark this special time as we go.
In Exodus twelve, verse eighteen,
The Israelites ran like a racing team,
With sandals on feet,
And bread without yeast,
They left Egypt in quite a hurry, it seems.
Verse 1:
Listen up, I got a story to tell
About a night that will forever dwell
It’s the story of the Exodus, let me spell
How God led us out with a mighty hand, hell
God said to observe the feast of unleavened bread
For seven days, in case you hadn’t read
Starting on the fourteenth day, no leaven in sight
Or you’ll be cut off, that’s right
Chorus:
Exodus 12:18, remember the day
The Lord’s command, never disobey
Eat unleavened bread, celebrate with joy
For God’s mighty hand, did deploy
Verse 2:
The blood of the lamb, on the doorpost we spread
So death could pass over, and our firstborn not dead
A solemn remembrance, let it be said
Of how God saved us, from slavery and dread
We left in a hurry, with no time to waste
God guiding us, through the desert and space
But the feast of unleavened bread, we never erased
A reminder of God’s love, and amazing grace
Chorus:
Exodus 12:18, remember the day
The Lord’s command, never disobey
Eat unleavened bread, celebrate with joy
For God’s mighty hand, did deploy
Verse 3:
So let us remember, the story we’ve heard
Of how God saved us, with His mighty word
Just like the Israelites, let’s not be deterred
But let us keep God’s commands, like a bird
For the feast of unleavened bread, is still around
A reminder of God’s love, that does astound
So let us celebrate, with a joyful sound
For to God’s mighty hand, we are bound
Chorus:
Exodus 12:18, remember the day
The Lord’s command, never disobey
Eat unleavened bread, celebrate with joy
For God’s mighty hand, did deploy.
